Just booked our annual visit to the Fort for this coming July/August. We normally leave from our home in MA but this year we will be leaving straight from Loudon, NH the day after the NASCAR races. I usually take 84/81 most of the way down the coast to get to the Fort. I am just wondering if any New Hampshire folks would recommend the best route from Loudon to get to i84. I suppose my two options are either heading south on i93 through MA and then heading west in CT staying on major highways or on the other hand just heading west after leaving Loudon and taking rt9 in NH until I get into NY and can grab i87.
My question is whether rt9 is a much slower way to go. It looks to be two lane and windy most of the way through the state park. Anyone know if it will be quicker to avoid the cities in MA by taking rt9 or if the interstate will be the better option? Thanks in advance!
