I played once at a party years ago and now I'm trying to organize a tournamnet

I surfed around the web, bought two different bunco sets from amazon, but I cant find how to run a big tournament. The printed instrutions go up to 12 people and I have 56, 14 tables of 4 people.

Can anyone help with bunco tournament instructions?

Thanks so much!

Pixie dust,

WOW, 56 people! I have no idea how you would host/run bunco for that many tables. Have you played a tournament before? I have never heard of that. I love bunco, we just played tonight. We only had 16 people though!

The bunco party I played at was also a big group.

We have a regular "girls night" once a month, it started out playing mahjongg, then sometimes poker, and we wanted to try a new game.

No one knows how to play though, I need a bunco professor!

Thanks,

Susy

Wow thats alot of people.

We play Bunco too but only have 12 people. Ours is mainly a gossip, drinking night for the neighborhood woman. A tournament sounds like I might actually have to think about what I'm doing. ;)

Buncorules.com. Has all you need to know (and then some!). Also had some cool print outs and variations on rules.

You could do a round-robin tournament of sorts. Everyone could draw a number and the people with the same number and table (say they drew number 10 at table 3) would be partners for the first round. Then after the first round (after rolling for 1's) the two players with the highest score would move up to the next table, the players at table 1 would move to the last table. The players would then switch partners with whom ever is at the next table so they don't have the same partner two rounds in a row. Keep going for how ever many lines you want to play and the player with the most points at the end wins? Everyone keeps track of their own score. You could also go partnerless and have 4 individual players at each table. Instead of the head table rolling until you get to 21 you could set a time limit for each round.

buncorules is a great site, I read every page

And golfgal, those instrucions are just what I was looking for, I'm going to do it the way you suggested.

How long does a game usually take? for the normal six rounds? How many rounds should we play? Im going o make individual scoreards wih the correct number of rounds.

Thanks!

I play in a group and we play 3 rounds (1-6). That takes us about 2 hours and by then everyone is really ready to be done playing. I wouldn't play more then that. We do a lot of chatting so that is part of it, but it still gets old after about 2 1/2 rounds.

Okay, we will play three rounds of six.

Should I make a scorecard that has eighteen spots, or do you play a different card for each round?

And how do you determine who is the tally keeper at each table?

Thanks so much!

I would make one scorecard for the all the rounds, easier to keep track of that. We play with partners and one of the partners just keeps score. If this is a big deal tournament and money is involved you might want to have an "official" score keeper at each table to write down everyone's score that gets turned in after each round AND have everyone keep their own score to help reduce cheating.

Our score card looks like this:

B U N C O

1 2 3 4 5 6

1 2 3 4 5 6

1 2 3 4 5 6

We just keep our track of wins and losses in our club but you could have them write their point total under each round number.
