Any Boston Bruins Fans - Help with Tickets

We are trying to surprize my son with tickets to the Dec 30 09 Bruins game in Boston. He is an avid fan and I would love to get good seats so he and his Dad can go to the game. We live in Toronto so have never been to Boston nor the arena in which they play. I've been looking on the different ticket websites, but it appears that tickets have not officially gone on sale, but ticket agencies appear to be selling tickets (Ticketking, Razor...) - are there agencies to avoid? It appears that ticketmaster is official ticket seller but I don't see that game on their list. Since this is a once in a lifetime trip, I'm thinking seats right around the Boston Bench would be good, but wondering if you're too close to the bench if your view would be obstructed? Can anyone recommend a good section and row? I don't want to wait too long and not be able to get good seats!

Would also love a recommendation of a hotel in the area - any close to rink or should we stay downtown and cab or public transit out to arena? We'll be staying only a couple of nights. Thanks for any help. Jo

Any tickets already on sale are season ticket holders selling tickets to ticketing agencies. If you want to make it a really special trip try getting tickets to the game they will be playing at Fenway Park on New Years Day. Just so you know face value of the tickets you are looking for start at $140 a ticket. As for hotels, stay anywhere in the downtown area, Boston is tiny and the public transportation is pretty good.

Individual game tickets will go on sale Thursday August 20 at 10:00 am.

I would wait until the tickets go on sale unless you really want a certain section. I have been able to get pretty good tickets to single games in Boston. I live in NJ but drive up each year to see a game or two.
That Fenway Park game sounds good, but I'm sure those will go fast.
