Going to DisneyLand for first trip in March - any books I can read to learn more about the park before our trip? Thanks!

Birnbaum puts out a very comprehensive guidebook for the parks. I buy one every few years even if we are not planning a trip just to see what has changed. If you are looking for history and interesting points about the park I got a good book called Disneyland Detective at amazon.com.

Not too many books, but you might want to check out the website:

These DIS boards are definitely your best resource!

As for books, though, my favorite is the Unofficial Guide. They've got great descriptions of everything. The 2006 version actually has blue typeface in some areas, so things are easier to find being sorta color-coded. Want pictures? I agree that the Birnbaum books are usually the best; they have fabulous full color photos. My kids love them because their favorite characters "narrate" parts of each section. The Passporter won't be out by March, I think, but keep it in mind for a future trip!

Check out www.anaheimoc.org for a visitors guide, especially if you're interested in attractions other than Disneyland. Some other misc. good ones:

www.mouseplanet.com
www.mousesavers.com
www.yesterland.com <--not a guide so much, but fun!

Have a great time!!

Well I'm not sure of a book but you can read up all about the attractions, dining and hotels on The Disney Website if you have any questions about an attraction or dining you can always google it for multiple sites and informantion.

Another Unofficial Guide to Disneyland fan! :cheer2:

I had always bought it for our trips to WDW and bought it again for our January trip. I liked it a lot. BUT if you want pictures it isn't the book for you!

These boards are extremely helpful for more up-to-date info (when the 50th celebration ends, etc) than a guidebook can be. BUT I am a guidebook fanatic and re-read parts of it on the plane out there so I didn't forget any hints or tips.

Have fun! Planning is such fun!

when researching a dl vacation i always have to buy the unoffical disneyland guide and birnhaums offical although neither is as acurate as the info you can get on line
laughingplace.com is my favorite dl research sorce

To be honest, I don't like the Unofficial Guide. We are planning a trip to DL this year, and I have had a heack of a time finding any books on DL here in Orlando! I went to 3 different bookstores and they had plenty on WDW (go figure). I found one when I went back to PA for Xmas, and I think it's called the Everything Guide to DL. It also includes Knotts, Magic Mountain and Universal, as well as LA and San Diego stuff. The one I bought is from 2002, so I don't thik they come out with a new one every year.

Passporter is the best guide and they are working on one for DL to come out later this spring, I believe. The internet will be your best (and cheapest) bet! Good luck & have a great time!

I vote for Birnbaums...best pictures, great tips, good layout...just lots of fun! :thumbsup2

I always use the Unofficial Guide. It gives tons of useful info. on attractions and organizing your visit.
