Any avoiding rack rate on Christmas?

I feel foolish booking something at full rack rate, but I don't think I've seen a promo that allowed Dec 24-Jan1?

Anyone seen otherwise?

In 2009 there was a pin released that covered the entire holiday season. Room only, no package upsell available at all.

With date based pricing it is difficult to get a discount over the busy holiday season.

But with Disney we never know. Plan on paying full price though.

There hasn't been in my experience.. a general public offer that included check-in dates over the holiday season.

Some people have successfully arrived on the last checkin day of a previous promotion ending on the 18th or 20th of December and enjoyed that discount for the duration of the stay including the holidays.

But a public offer that included check in dates the entire holiday season? That I have not seen.

We are booked at WDW Dec. 16-25 with a 35% off room rate for POR.

Got to love a great bounceback deal.

Last year as long as you checked in by Dec. 17 you could get free dining for 10 days. If that deal opens up we will be switching deals. For our family of 5 it would be a better deal.

I felt the same was as the OP abotu booking at rack rate. This year Easter week no discounts were available - I searched everyday. Finally with less than 20 days beofre we left they opened up the room discount and we go 30% off (refunded) to us. Sometimes based on reservations they open up deals at the last minute.

Good luck !

Really, the best thing to do is book with AAA. You can possibly get a small AAA discount, although it's not likely.

The reason people got % off and free dining last Christmas was because bookings were so low. It all depends on if Disney needs to fill empty rooms, but I would not expect to know about any discounts until September or October.

On 2008, there was a DVR promo for 20% off (mods) AND free basic dining good for checkins until 12/22.

Then again, the ecomonmy was tanking at the time...

Your ticker looks like you will be down here in one month, so you will probably still be able to ask about the current Bounceback offer.

The current BB offer is:

Get 40% off WILDERNESS CABINS: 1/3-1/14, 1/18-2/11, 2/15-3/27, 4/11-7/1, 7/5-11/23, 11/28-12/24/2010

Be sure and call extension 8844 from your resort room BEFORE you check out and ask about 12/24 check ins on a Bounceback res. Good luck! :thumbsup2

I'm kind of hoping for a bounceback, but prepared to find them w/blackout dates on Christmas. I rented DVC points for Dec. 19-23 and would really like to stay over Christmas if possible. But can't decide if the way to go would be to rent more points from someone else (which would still make me have to move, right?) or book a regular room.

We went last year Dec 28-Jan 1 and got a discount from a travel agent, not sure if I can mention the name so I wont, but we got CSR for $159 a night and saved over $400. I am crossing my fingers for a similar deal or any discount since we want to come Dec 26-Jan 2 this year. Last year with the discount we got we paid less that a preffered room at a value for a waterview at CSR.

See next quoted post---

Us, too! We used a travel agent (you've probably seen mention of them at sometime on these boards). We got Yacht Club, water view, for $235/night! :woohoo: Rack rate was $580/night!

I'd be glad to pm you the name of the company, if you want to start keeping a check on their website. If I remember correctly, they were advertising these special rates by August.

Last year we were quoted the same price by that same company we're all discussing. I decided to stick with my free dining at POFQ. We started our vacation on the last day of the free dining deal (December 17) so we had free dining through December 29.

That travel agent in question I believe is the only way to get a room discount between Christmas and New Years. If you book a package deal and arrive on the last valid date of the deal then the deal will extend the entire duration of your stay (like ours did last year).

We had a 40% pin code for last year for all dates through 12/31. We were at CBR from 12/27-1/1 for $131. I did not get the code through email or mail, I called and they said it was attached to my name. But I have to tell you, I could not find very many people on the DIS who got this, it is a rare find.

I asked about a BB discount for thanksgiving week when I was onsite in April and was told there were no discounts. I am still hoping for an annual passholder discount to be released in the future, but not counting on it.
