Any Amtrak codes or coupons out there?

I’ll be using Amtrak from PA to Kissimmee for a trip to the World in January & was hoping to nab some codes to cut the cost a bit. I know my AAA will give me a 10% discount. But are there any other codes out there? I remember seeing some 25% and some 50% off a companion fare, but forget the codes. Unfortunately, the date of my trip down falls within a blackout period for most of the codes, but the ride back should be covered. Also, several of the codes I’ve found don’t include the specific train I’ll need to use either. Bummer. But I know if anyone knows of any codes or coupons, the DIS would be the place to check. Thanks!

Thanks for the link Cheryl. I tried all the ones I've found plus the ones in your link, but none seem to apply. Looks like the Silver Star & Silver Meteor don't under those discounts. I considered buying a free companion coupon off Ebay, but I'm worried that with all of the failed codes, there would be restrictions on the coupon too & it wouldn't work. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed & hope something pops up.

Well, looks like I'll only be able to use my 10% AAA discount. All of the other codes have one restriction or another{specific trains, specific stations, blackout dates, etc}. Anyway, we'll still be using Amtrak from Philly to Kissimmee. I thought I'd ask to see if there are any suggestions/advice on how to best deal with the 22+ hour ride? Hopefully we'll be able to sleep a good bit. But are there any things to do/to avoid/to consider that generally aren't covered in the normal Amtrak write-up? For instance, I'll be wearing sweatpants instead of jeans or slacks for comfort, since we'll be in coach & won't really get to change into our pjs. Does that sound like a plan? And what other tidbits can the veteran Amtrak travelers out there on the DIS offer? Thanks.

See if you can get seated near an outlet.
bring your own food/snacks. Also bring your own pillows and blankets.

Also ask to see what an upgrade to a roomette would be at the station.
( I doubt the train will be full and maybe they'll give you a deal.)

I'd love to get an outlet since I'll have my laptop. The Amtrak rep mentioned there are only 2 outlets per coach car and approx 70-80 total seats. But she mentioned the lounge car has more outets so I may be able to charge up there if need be.

And the roomette upgrade possibility I had in mind too. It looks like it would be several hundred dollars more to book. But I read somewhere else that someone asked about an upgrade upon check-in & they got a 50% discount. So we'll see.

Thanks for the tips Cheryl!
