Any "Alternative Families" headed to DW?

Hi Jen - I've never felt bad about taking my kids out of school for a few days here and there (my partner worries for both of us).

Maybe I'm laid back about it because both my kids are terrific human beings but they are also learning disabled; they are never going to discover a cure for cancer, but the time we can spend together sure does heal us all!

We did have one teacher - the music teacher! - pretty much "D" out my daughter for the quarter (she gets As and Bs in all of her other learning support classes), but she's made of tough stuff. She road it out the next quarter and did just fine.

Peace,
Viki:bounce:

No, I didn't realize there was one. :(
DH and I are going to Howl O Scream on the 24th and 26th though....

Nice to meet you as well :tongue: :hyper:

Chuck, I love you avatar, what a great idea!

Viki, I would love to hear back about how taking your kids out of school so early in the year works for you. Have you done it before? I am taking DS4 and DS6 out in late October for 2 days, but it seems that the once slow season of October has become quite busy. I have always avoided September, but now I am thinking-why not?? I am taking myself(!) in two weeks and I am sure that I will enjoy the slower pace. DH HATES waiting in lines, so do the boys.. Me, I just start talking to strangers...:crazy:

Have a great trip!!

Although they don't have any kids, I have two gay (men) friends who go to WDW all the time. They have never said anything about not being accepted..

Hi!

No, the only problem we've ever had taking our kids out of school I noted above and my daughter handled it beautifully.

I grew up in St. Pete during the first years of WDW and as we ushered all of our northern visitors around and around and around the park (only MK at that time) I have more than payed my dues with long, long, long lines and sweltering heat. I just won't do it anymore. So September or some other very low attendance time of year it is!

And, no, we've never had any problem with being an alternative family (two white moms, two african american kids) in WDW.

Peace,
Viki::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo
