:confused:Hi I have 5 days till Disney. I am looking at the forecast (which I promised I wouldn't do) I see that thundershowers are predicted for the entire week!

I'm celebrating my 17th wedding anniversary and traveling with our 2 sons (8&10). I've lost all enthusiasm. I'm staying off property at a condo with little to no activities.

I have heard that much of Disney can be done in rainy weather, but I have already have our dining reservations and touring plans set. Does anyone have any tips for how to get excited about going even though bad weather is expected for the entire trip! If you've "been there", can you share your experiences for making it an enjoyable vaca nonetheless.

P.S. We have hopper passes with waterpark and more (Downtown Disney, etc.) for our entire stay plus a rental car.

Get your enthusiasm back you & your family are going to WDW ! I live here we have not had a FULL day of rain in months, I can't even remember exactly when The longest has been a few hours not even that I HATE weather predictions causing people to stress

Short of a tropical system moving in or an actual hurricane, the chances of it raining ALL DAY are minimal.

It's August in FL so thunderstorms are like cold weather in Ohio in January.... very normal. The difference is that they can last anywhere from 15 min to a couple of hours and often only affect areas of the parks at a time. So, it may be raining on one side of MK & not the other. Or - the sky opens & dumps across the entire park but is over & done with in 20 mins.

Whenever we've encountered real rain days in the park, we've had the BEST times. Lines tend to be shorter & we tend to just act goofier I think. Nothing like stomping through a bunch of puddles in Disney to make you feel like a kid again!!

Take suitable sandals or crocs to have on hand just in case & ponchos or umbrellas or whatever you are comfortable carrying. Search "rain" through these forums & you'll come up with all kinds of creative ideas people have used to manage it. I'm POSITIVE you will still have an absolute BLAST!:goodvibes

Yes, like the others stated, storms are normal in FL this time of year but not a big deal. As a matter of fact the Tampa area weather shows T-showers everyday from June until end of Sept. It's the chance of rain that matters.

Honestly, if it's 50% or less chance of a T-storm, you may or may not see it at all. If you do, it won't last. You can still enjoy the parks even while it's raining and very little "shuts down" in thunder. Just the stuff that is really outside (Thunder mountain railroad, water parks etc) but it's just temporary.

Oh, also, the T-storms if they come, can be pretty much timed to be some where around dinner time.

Family members were at WDW during the 4th of July week, which is typically crowded. They said they had a blast because it rained every day-- really thinned the crowds out!

Don't worry and just enjoy!

Thanks so much! I'll stay positive. I figured searching for "rain" in the forums would bring up a zillion rain forest cafe posts. I'll try though. Thx :)

I was there July 4th week as well, and we had a LOT of rain. I too was dreading it, but decided I would make the best of it. The mornings were sunny and then around 1:00 or later it started raining. The first 3 or 4 days the rain lasted pretty much the rest of the day. I agree that it thinned the crowds out. Just invest in decent ponchos or rain jackets and you'll be fine. It interferes with Animal Kingdom the most since most of the rides are outdoors, but we still managed to do everything we wanted except Kali Rapids because we ran out of time (we didn't arrive until 2:00). I hung our ponchos on the bathtub clothes line each night to dry so they would be dry to pack the next day. I would also recommend wearing waterproof sandals (Keen or similar) in the rain rather than tennis shoes. When it's constant rain like we had, an extra pair of socks just didn't cut it. The people wearing soggy shoes/socks looked miserable!

Very helpful. I packed keens for my kids. I think I'll do the same for myself - just to be on the safe side.
