Any advice on Gray Line from San Diego?

I've got just one day free during a January business trip to San Diego, and I'm planning to spend it at Disneyland. Since I won't have a rental car, I'm thinking of booking a Gray Line tour (here's their web site).

Has anyone used this tour? If so, any advice?

Check the times; the earliest they'll pick you up and get you there, and the latest they'll take you home. Make sure it'll be a good chunk of hours.

If there was any chance of you staying the night and heading back to SD the nrext morning, I would highly recommend the Amtrak Surfliner instead, b/c it's such a pleasant ride. You do have to then take a cab from the Anaheim "station" (in the Angels stadium parking lot), which was about $13 a couple years ago. But Amtrak doesn't leave late enough for a really full day in my opinion.

Though if your particular date has hours that work with it, it's still worth a peek. :)

Thanks!

Sadly I really can't stay the night; I have a meeting the next morning in San Diego that will likely start at 8:30 (and possibly a breakfast meeting before that). Plus, a hotel night would raise my costs considerably.

When you took the tour, was there a lot of waiting at the central Gray Line hub? I've been told that they pick up at the hotel, bring you to a central location, and then you board the DL-bound bus.

What about arriving the evening before? After you've finished with your meetings take the bus or train up to Anaheim so you can get an early start to your Disney day. I've driven from San Diego to Anaheim and taken the Surfliner.

Unfortunately, all I can really swing is a day trip. I won't be done with the previous day's business until fairly late in the evening (at least 8 or 9pm, probably later), plus I need to avoid the cost of a hotel stay.

Has anyone actually taken a Gray Line tour? My San Diego hotel concierge recommends it, and the hours are reasonably good (arriving at DL around 9:30am, departing from DL at 7pm). And given that it's going to be a Wednesday in mid-January, I suspect the queues will be quite manageable so I should be able to hit all my usual favorites.

I'm sad that I can't stay longer of course :sad1: . . . but I am consoling myself with the fact that 2 days later, I'm flying to WDW to serve as Matron of Honor in my BFF's Disney Fairy Tale Wedding and will get a more substantial dose of the magic. :cloud9:
