SO , once again I am adding to my upcoming trip to DLR. This is my DBF's fault though. We have decided to add on one night at the beginning of our trip so that after the drive we can maybe visit DTD to eat, go to hotel and get sleep, then wake up for early DLR entry. We are booked at DLH for 2 nights but need 1 night at a budget hotel. It does not have to be too close to DLR, don't mind a short drive for 1 night. Also, doesn't have to be luxury, just clean ( no roach motel). I was looking at maybe: anaheim camelot inn, cortona inn, or hotel pepper tree.
Has anyone stayed at these hotels or have better options? I looked at HOjo's but they are charging $135.00 a night and I would rather pay $100.00 or even less. thanks for your time and advice.
:confused3 :surfweb:

We have been able to get good deals through Expedia at Tropicana, Best Western Ananheim Inn, and Park Vue, all of which are very close to the DL crosswalk. I think the most we paid for them was $99. I would stay at any of these again.

We have also stayed at the Ramada Inn Maingate on Harbor and it was OK and over $100/night. I'd do any of the other three before there again.

We have also stayed at Anaheim Plaza, but that was a few years ago and while it was clean and cheap, I heard they charge for parking now so take that into consideration.

Stay away from Parkview Inn and Suites!! It was horrible!! :scared1: We were lured there because of cheap rates for a last min stay, never again.

I can second the Anaheim Plaza for a budget hotel as long as you don't need wi-fi (expensive and unreliable). Great pool, nice gift shop. Right at the entrance to Disney parking, 5 min walk to the park. Super-close! $69/night.

I stayed at the Motel 6 during my March trip and it was alright. The motel was clean and the price was very low, I think like 60 bucks a night.

I recommend priceline.com. I got a room at the Orange County Hyatt for $63 a night which is a 3*. Its only 2 miles down the road and they offer a free shuttle ride there every 30 minutes. Only downside is they charge nearly $20 per night for parking..OWWW:confused3   and a downside of priceline is u never know which hotel u will get until you pay for it.

The Candy Cane Inn always gets good reviews. They have a shuttle that goes back and forth to the park often. The rooms are clean. It's been yrs since I've stayed, but I'm sure it's still in nice condition.

I saw that hotel and it looked very nice. Online they wanted $139.00 a night so I passed it up. Maybe Ishould checkout priceline. lol!

thanks for all the recommendations! I will take a look into these. I never even thought about the anaheim plaza. hmmm.. You all have been a great help!:thanks: :disrocks:

We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza last August and last November. We'll also be staying there again in January. It's only $69 a night. And I think parking is only $4 a day or something like that. The hotel is pretty old, but our room was clean. We saw them updating the furnishings in some of the rooms last time so maybe they are a little nicer/newer now.

I just got back from the Anaheim Plaza.. It's just fine for what it is, and very few hotels can beat the walking commute.
Cheap breakfast too!!!!

HoJo has their Entertainment book rate for the night of the 14th: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

You know about that from reading these boards, right? You pick up the Entertainment book online for your own (or any) area. You can call HoJo right away and make the reservation before you get the book; it's only when you check in that you need the card that comes with the book. You have enough time to have the book mailed to you if you order right away.

For a deluxe, Disney-facing room with a balcony and a fireworks view, it's $74 a night. For a standard room it's $59 a night. You can't beat those prices for such a nice room within walking distance, even with the $25 for the Ent. book factored in.

If you do this, call HoJo Anaheim directly (714) 776-6120 and ask for IN HOUSE reservations (don't let them shuttle you to the 1-800 number; call between 9-5 pacific time). You can only get the Ent rate by calling In House.

The 2009 Ent books just came out, so I think you'll have to buy one of those, but if you call they'll send you one of the 2008 books for free. They run from $25-40 depending on where you live, but you can buy them for any area, so buy a cheap one if possible.

Oh, yeah, somebody on this board had extra cards she was sending out for free, too. BallerinaMom, I think.

Hope that helps!:goodvibes

I never understood the whole entertainment rate stuff.

So you're basically paying $84-$99 for the cheaper room (depending on the price you pay for the entertainment book.)

Or $99-$114 for the better room.

Am I understanding that correctly?

Well, it depends on how many nights you stay. You pay for the book once. You get the discounted rate of $59-74 each night you stay. OP is only staying one night, but it's still a good savings for a nice room close by. It's a better deal the more nights you stay. And it kind of depends on the time of year, when you figure out how good a deal this is.

Up until a couple days ago, you could still get the 2008 book for $10, discounted because it expires Nov. 1. I did this, so after spending $10 for the book, I got a deluxe room for $74 a night for 4 nights in October. That room would normally cost me $120 a night. So I'm saving $45 a night for 4 nights, for a total of $180 savings. Well worth the cost of the $10 Ent book or even the full price $25 book, even if I never use any of the coupons in the book for anything else.

However, for example, there's coupons in there for Safeway, where I shop, $10 off a $50 grocery purchase, for each of 4 time periods. If I use those (which I will, easily) I've already recouped the price of the book. There's 2-fer coupons for lots of restaurants around here which we can use; zoo, childrens' museum, etc. I used a coupon for Super Shuttle from there, for ground transportation for our trip. So really, even if you don't use most of the coupons in there, it's pretty easy to recoup the cost of the book.

Hope that helps explain it.
