Read these forums and make plent of notes ! The next 12 months will soon pass. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained from a lot of past experience that is shared by everyone. A lot of this you will not find in the guide books.
The visit to Orlando is something that you will remember forever and hopefully you will return many times. WELCOME TO THE FORUMS !!!

You have already done the best thing by finding these boards :thumbsup2

The experience and advice you get here will greatly help your planning - and planning is really the key to keeping your first trip a little less nerve racking and running smoothly:)

Don't worry everyone here will help you be nice and organised - let the planning begin :goodvibes

Plan Plan Plan!!

WDW is soooooo big that it is impossible to see it all and then there are all the other parks like Universal that you might want to do as well. My advice would be to buy a Florida guide book and read it so that you are familiar with all there is to do. Its also worth getting the free WDW planning dvd from their website. Finally, try to make a plan of what park you want to do each day, make sure you include rest days and waterpark days. The parks really are big and if you try to do one every single day you will get parked out. The Magic Kingdom is a good park to start with. :goodvibes

We had been several times and then found these boards and even after so many trips we still find useful information here.

Everyone is really friendly and ask as many questions as you like. Let the planning begin:banana:

You've got to plan! Buy a couple of books and post a question on DIS :surfweb: everytime you think of something you're not sure about, you'll get loads of replies with advice and views. I would say buy the 'unofficial guide to WDW' - Bob Sehlinger - about £12. :coffee: I'm just starting my planning for Nov 2008, by the time we've got back and finished our scrapbook it will make it about a 2 year project! ;)

Enjoy!

As everyone has said - plan, plan, plan LOL

That doesn't mean you have to have a military style plan, but just a framework of where you want to go each day, what you want to do, where you want to eat etc..
Planning also gives you the knowledge to be flexible as well :)

Most people on here would agree that the planning process is part of their holiday - so enjoy it :)

I totally agree with everyone, the best advice is to plan. We went for the second time in jan and were so much more prepared and had so much more information and tips from finding dis boards for our second trip. :welcome:

welcome to the boards :)

my top tip.......keep reading and posting your questions :thumbsup2

This is just the start of the greatest adventure you will ever have. Most people generally forget about their holidays after being home for a couple of weeks except for the WDW holidays and I assure you, you will be talking about your 2008 trip until you have saved up to go again because for sure you will want to return, again & again. You will learn a lot on here on what is best to do but even when you are there the Disney staff are so friendly that they will always be able to guide you if you need any help. Where will you be staying and who is in your party?

Welcome to the boards.
Plan - like everyone says - don't be scared to ask questions no matter how trival you think they might be.
Good luck

Plan plan and plan some more, and ask lots of questions!!!

plan, and then plan some more:thumbsup2 Also read some trip reports on dis boards as they give you some idea of what you can fit into each day!

where are you are staying?

Plan a must. Make ADR's before you go. Also one little piece of advice would be to make sure have rest parts to the days especially when the sun is out!

we are staying in a vills in kissimmee going through thomson and its me ,my husband and two children 12 and 8 yrs.

Welcome to the DISboards  don't be nervous about your trip. I guarantee you will have the time of your lives and come back addicted. We all do :thumbsup2 My advice would be to buy The Brits Guide. We got one for our first trip and it was an absolute godsend. It really helped make sure we made the most of our time there and ask lots of questions, there is always somebody able to help :thumbsup2

You need to go to user CP edit signature, delete and save options and possible remove it from your Advatar too.

This year will be my 11th visit. I find that doing an itinerary and sticking to it eases all the stress when you get there. Try to alternate park days and rest days (you will need a rest after walking the parks!) Enjoy!

This year will be our eighth visit. We try to plan but like Goofyish says, not military planning !!

All we do is make sure if we have one busy day then the next day is relatively quiet, e.g. if we do Magic Kingdom one day, then we would probably do Sea World the next - as it is much smaller, and closes earlier.
There are plenty of restaurants along International Drive, (and also in WDW) to enjoy too. I always end up putting weight on when I am out there.
