Any advice for a 1st visit to BLT??

HI. We are staying at BLT for the 1st time. Any advise on room requests?? Any pictures of the pool?? Where is the store?? How is it?? Is the transportation to the parks fab?? Thanks we are very excited

Room requests - up to preference, and what you have booked, I like upper level facing MK if you have a LV room. There's a whole thread on rooms, etc.

Store - in Contemporary - so 5th floor level from BLT you can walk across and you're on the floor level. There's the one in the center of the walk area, and then one on the left hand side for general merchandise, and on the right hand side for food type items (as your walking from BLT to Contemporary). I like the stores. I think they have a good selection.

Transport - walk to MK can't be beat. 10 min and you're walking down Main Street. Monorail to Epcot is easy. Busses are not my favorite, but are fine to DHS, DTD and AK.

Other - check in online. Otherwise, you can stand in line a long time to check in. The lines can get very long, since BLT and CR share the same desks (you check in at the CR). I forgot to check in online for our last visit, and was standing in line about 40 min to check in. I don't think I'll ever forget this again, after watching the online desk have people breeze through it.

Thanks. I have a 1 bedroom LV. Is there an area more convenient to monorail? Any areas to stay away from?? Long hallway walk (LOL ala BWV)? Where is the room thread?? How is the pool?? It looks wonderful.

Have a nice dinner at Chef Mickey and then enjoy the MK fireworks....

The pool is nice but small. You can always walk over to the CR pool if you have ever stayed there.

If you are in the south side of the building, then you are closer to the sky bridge and monorail.

That being said........walking to MK is a snap.

And definitely check in on line.

Is checking in online really a must do? First, let me say that I much prefer being face to face with someone, where I can emphasize my requested location, and have that personal connection, ask questions, etc. We have stayed at every WDW DVC resort except BLT, and have never once checked in online. We've never had a very long wait, and have always been fairly happy with our room location, and in fact, have never had any problems with checking in.

Our daughter and her family hope to stay at BLT on their next WDW trip. I don't want to give them the wrong advice when it comes to checking in. Does everyone feel that the best thing to do is to check in online? I would really appreciate hearing from some others who have previously stayed there. Thanks!

BLT uses the check in desk at the CR. So if you are taking Magical Express to the Contemporary, you could wind up with a lot of people checking in at the same time - and thereby waiting for an awfully long time.

Plus, Contemporary is a convention location, which can also lead to long lines at times.
