We are going to Disney World Jan 18th-27th! We are traveling with a 6 year old (she will be turning 6 during our vacation) and a baby that will be 6 months old. My question is ...................
What am I going to do with the baby during meals? She is not sitting up yet to sit in a highchair and I know most places will not allow the stroller. I do not plan on bringing the infant car seat/carrier to the parks because she is uncomfortable and hot in it. I will have a sling for when she needs a break from the stroller. I don't want to hold her through every meal, so any advice would be helpful! Also any other advice you can offer for traveling with a 6 month old will be helpful! I plan on running to Walmart for formula, diapers, wipes, baby food and possibly a booster seat for my 6 year old. We are flying but renting a car after we get there. I don't feel like lugging her booster seat with us ~ and to rent it, the cost is $10.00 a day, I'll just buy one for like $20.00 and leave it there. Does this sound like a good idea?

I though I had the same dilema the first time I took my little princess at age 6 months. I carried her around in her Snugglie and she LOVED IT and when she got tired of that, we put her in the stroller. As far as dinner goes, all of the restaurants that we ate at had the infant highchairs (kind of like what they have on shopping carts). Call ahead and make your dinner reservations before your trip - let them know that you need an infant seat.

Hope this helps

A little off topic, but I just noticed that we will be down there about the same time. If you see 3 women and one guy with 3 single strollers and a 2 year old and 2, 1 year olds, say Hi!

This was my first trip with a 4 year old and 9 month old and it worked out really well. I shipped a huge box down to the resort exactly one week from our arrival date. It got there within 3 days for only $15! I packed mini juice boxes, diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, snacks, etc... I liked shipping my own products to ensure the brands that we're accustomed to.

Don't know if you use ready to feed or powdered formula? We use powdered. I ordered a case of water from staples.com for $14 with shipping. I ordered purified water because my doctor said local springs have different amounts of minerals and could upset the babies tummies. Purified is the safest way to go.

We never leave the WDW property. They make it so easy for you to get around. I've never traveled with carseats, just used magical express.

Your baby might be able to sit up by January. Otherwise, you can request the infant highchair. I wish we had a highchair in our room, my son is all over the place and not easy to feed without a highchair.

January is off season, we've been there twice in January. Should your little one be sleeping at meal time, ask if you can bring the stroller in the restaurant, if it's not crowded they will let you. I've done this many times.

We actually asked to take our stroller into a couple of restaurants during DD's first trip (at 5 months) when she fell asleep right before meal time, and we found everyone to be very accommodating. It definitely depends on the restaurant, though, as some places are way too cramped. But at 6 months your DD will probably be able to sit up enough to use a high chair. We used a couple of rolled up receiving blankets to pad our little one in, and she got such a kick out of being able to sit at the table like everyone else that she was good as gold at every meal. :thumbsup2
