Okay, so during our 12 days in WDW we plan to go a little crazy. My husband will be just returned from a year in Iraq which means that he has missed one of each of our birthdays, one of each holiday... you get the idea. We have a lot of celebrating to make up for. I'd like to celebrate my son's birthday one night. Although his actual third birthday is about 2 weeks after we leave the park, I'd like to do something special for him. I am not looking for anything free-I accept that Disney magic is not often free. :) (though free newer hurts), just some good birthday ideas to give him a magic memory. It's not agianst any rules to celebrate even though it's not your REAL birthday, is it?

We were at WDW over New Year and celebrated our daughter's 7th birthday there. One of the things we did was take her on a specialty fireworks cruise. I think it was technically called the Wishes fireworks cruise, but they also have one for the fireworks at Epcot, too. They take your group (up to 12 people) out for a ride on a pontoon boat around the Seven Seas lagoon and then stop and watch the fireworks from a point in front of the castle. One of the options they offer is a birthday package. They decorate the pontoon with balloons and stuff, have drinks and snacks, and then a birthday cake. We had six kids with us ranging in age from 2 to 13, and they all had a blast! I think the number to call is 407-WDW-Play. Be forwarned, though, they start taking reservations 90 days before the date of the cruise, and depending on the season, they go quick.

It was a great time, and I would highly recommend it as a pretty unique way to celebrate a birthday.

Goodness! That sounds amazing... and expensive. There are only 3 of us. Any idea how much it is to book this type of thing?

Take your child to the Poly and watch the Water parade from the beach. Totally free!

For you and your husband, try this link:

and have something delivered to the room. Wine basket looks great!

Also, please give your husband my thanks. It is because of people like him that I am able to sleep at night. He is my hero.

My ds's will be turning 3 and 6 during our stay. I ordered a gift basket from our very own Feralpeg. You can pm her for prices, etc or visit her webpage at www.peggyssweetsandmore.com
She has loads of options to choose from. You can pick a basket based on your child's favorite character. We are also taking our kids to a character breakfast to celebrate. You can also order a cake too! :flower:

The basic cruise was $120, but I think it jumped to $150 this year. With the birthday package I think it ended up being $175. I didn't think that was too bad, but we also had a full boat (12 people).

jenndisney-Hmmm... and I'll be dropping this as a hint to the hubby.

Thank you! The outpouring of support that our family has received from complete stragers has been amazing. My husband was recently home for his two weeks R&R. As we were hugging in the jetway, tons of people tapped him on the shoulder and said 'thanks'. On his way back to Iraq someone anonymously picked up his lunch tab at the Atlanta airport Chili's (if you by chance are reading this 'thanks to you!') Yet another soldier reported that upon landing in Syracuse, the pilots asked everyone on the plane to remain seated so that soldiers who had been traveling two and a half days could reach their families a few moments sooner. As the guys got off the plane they were given a thunderous round of applause (thank you Delta Airlines for your support). Others have reported complete stranges giving them their First Class seats. Such goodness in the world!

stevesan-Very reasonable. Thanks for the tip. My hubby would love this as well. Now to get it booked...

Nik's mom-Omigosh! These baskets are wonderful. I am envisioning coming back to the room after a day at the parks with a huge Buzz Lightyear basket! Great idea! Do I order a cake when I make the PS?

Not a better place to celebrate your family being reunited than Disney! I think that giving your DS a special Disney Birthday is an awsome idea. If not because of his birthday but because he gets go celebrate just being with Mommy and Daddy.

Thank you to your husband and family and to all families who serve and protect!

Yes, you can order a cake when you make your ps. They may transfer you to another office, but you shouldn't have any problem.
Have a great trip! :flower: :sunny:

We are going on my daughter's birthday and I made a PS for a princess lunch at the restaurant in Norway. The CM told me that I can call the restaurant 48 hours in advance of our lunch and order a birthday cake. He also told me to tell them at the podium it was her birthday. I think he also made a notation on the PM because he asked how old she will be.

I hope you have a great time!

make sure they know when you check in that it is your son's birthday - at Boardwalk - they delivered to my DD on her birthday - balloons and a picture signed by Snow White (her favorite character) and a buzz and woody picture for my son so he wouldn't feel left out -

just pick a day that will be his "Birthday" and get a birthday button from guest relations!

Im going to take ds 4 to build his own mr. potato head after we watch toy story 1 and 2 on the drive down. My kids love things they can make them selves. Are you planning on making a ps for a character meal? The donald one ant ak might be nice or crystal palace with pooh characters. I am also leaving PJ's on there pillow with a note from Mickey, pooh, and cinderella My 3 childrens fav. Hope u find the ideas your looking for thanks to your husband and you and your son for the sacrafices you all have made.
