My son is turning 6 in November and has been begging for a DS forever. We just purchased him the Nintendo 3DS.

I bought him the Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension game, but I don't know what else to get. He really wants the Mario Kart game, but it won't be out until after his birthday (Nov. 12.) Can anyone recommend any games that are available now that take good advantage of the 3D capabilities?

Also, what are some good accessories to have? We don't have other handheld gaming systems so I don't know what he will need. Case? Screen protectors? Car charger?

Thanks!

Animal Crossing is coming out for 3DS.
That is a family favorite. : )
I am hoping for a Kingdom Hearts... I don't think that it has been announced but I am sure there will be a tie in at some point.
Do you ever visit the IGN website? There's a trove of cool stuff there about games, reviews, etc.
Gametrailers.com is also very cool.
The 3DS streams netflix too! How cool is that?

I don't know games well that is my DHs area of expertise (seriously he works at Target but not always in electronics and their our customers that will go find him in other sections to talk about what games to get their kids. I'm sure he can give some recommendations.

For accessories:
A case really isn't required for a 3DS unless you want something handy to carry the games in too. But honestly a plastic ziplock bag for games and any small bag you happen to own may work fine. Since the game closes you don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched up. My husbands has been thrown in his bag, knocked on the floor by the cats, etc and the outside is still fine.

I recommend a car charger though if he likes to play for long trips or isn't great at remember to charge things so even short trips may need the charger. You can get screen protectors, personally I don't like them on anything (my smart phone, itouch, etc included) but since he is younger I would probably recommend them in case he is rougher with it when playing.

Extra styluses (that is so not right but I"m sure you know what I mean) is the biggest must. I'm 25 and still manage to lose them on occasion. its nice to have backups.

There is a new Mario game that is available for preorder now, I can't remember what it's called, but it's specifically for the 3DS. My ds has been asking for it.

Don't spend alot for extra styluses (don't know how to spell it either, lol), you can get a lot with a few in them from ebay for really cheap.

ETA: It's called Super Mario 3DLand and it's being released Nov. 13th.

My DS8 has just about every 3D game that's come out so far.
He loves all of the regular DS Mario ones--the regular DS games play on the DS3D. And they're $10.00 cheaper! They just don't play in 3D--doesn't matter to my DS as he usually turns the 3D off if he's been playing for a long time.
I'm going to get the Pet Zombie game today. It was just released. There are a couple of SuperHero games, if your child likes that sort of thing.
My DS LOVES punchtime explosion from Cartoon Network. Zelda is a big one for him too. And like his DMama, he loves Plants VS Zombies!
