We will be at Disney in about 2 weeks and this will be our fisrt time home.
I would like to know of any 1BR to avoid due to noise or view or other problems. That way I can decline that room at checkin
Thanks
Deb

don't know about a 1-bedroom - but for a studio you don't want 4562 - bad view - so I would think anything close to this

Avoid room 5530. The balcony railing is solid wood, when you are standing you are fine, but when you sit down it is like you are in a box - you can't see a thing. It has something to do with the roof line. We noticed this as soon as we got to our room and called gs, they said we could change to a first floor room. We decided not to go, the hassel of moving, get new room cards, etc - we had waited for our room a long time as we had arrived around 1 and could not get in till 3. Of course as the week went on we wished we had taking the extra time and switched rooms. We also were not crazy about a first floor room - although our opinion of that changed as the week went on. I know there are other rooms with the same balcony set-up, so you should check as soon as you get in the room.

Also don't forget to sign-up to be the flag family - it was great!

5524 has that same type of balcony. We did sit on it some and it would have been nice to have had a view of things going on around us, but it would not have been worth giving up my 5th floor room or the hassle of moving. We didn't sit out there much.

Any even number 2556 and up, 3556 and up, 4556 and up, and 5556 and up. These are all above ground level at the end of the hall, facing in the direction of the bus stop. They have a view that includes a garbage dumpster area at the back of the resort. Rather unattractive compared to a nice peaceful woods view or pretty pool/bay view.

Good luck trying to decline a room at check in. We tried it last week and it didn't work. We were checking in at 12:30 am, however. When we checked in they gave us room 1558. I knew this was at the end of the hall facing the dumpster and tried to have them move us. They said they couldn't, but we could ask for a room change in the morning. We got to the room and from the ground floor the dumpster area was blocked by nice landscaping so you couldn't tell it was there. We didn't bother moving.

As I noted in another thread, there was a bell that disturbed us in this room. I believe it had something to do with the dumpster area. You may want to avoid even numbers 1556 and up as well.

Have a great trip.

DP1...

Some rooms on the 5th floor have partially enclosed balconies. In other words, you must be standing in order to enjoy the view. This does have to do with the roof line. If you look at the picture on Page 99 of the 2001-2002 Member Guidebook, you can see some rooms which face the pool which have these partially enclosed balconies.

If you definitely want a balcony with railings (so that you can enjoy the view while being seated), request a room on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor (1st floor rooms have a small patio).

It sounds like everything would be solved if they put the dumpster in front of the rooms with the enclosed balcony! :D
Seriously though, this is great info (I'm actually writing it down);)
