Just wondering if anyone else here has had an experience in the hot seat, i got in last christmas @ only 15! any other stories or questions?

This is one of our favorite attractions, and after being in the top 10 many times, I finally got into the hot seat in October. I made it to the $125,000 question and walked away. Now I know better - NEVER walk away. I got a shirt, a bunch of point-level pins, a hat, and a lanyard. After 32,000 you already have the hat and shirt to keep, and all you'll lose after that if you miss a question are the point-level pins (which aren't anything great). If you answer them all right, you'll get the cruise - well worth the gamble of a few pins you'll probably never wear anyway.

In February we saw 2 women win the million point prize on the same day. It's very exciting to see a winner.

There is one thing they should change. Since photography/ videotaping aren't allowed, they should take your picture (or better yet, a video) if you are in the hot seat. I think many people would pay for that - I know I would.

yes! it was very exciting .. the attraction was open for i think 4 days in 2001 and i got into the hotseat - i only won 1000 "points " but got some pins and recognition from the people in the crowd. i made it onto the show and time ran out. The guy asked me if i wanted to stay around for the next show.. of course i said yes. as i was waiting outside the studio where everyone waits in line.. i was congratulated and people wanted to shake my hand for making the hotseat - i guess u feel like a celebrity for 1 minute - i went on the next show and lost.. but it was really fun.. haha ..and i think i have been in the top 10 maybe over 10 to 15 times since but havent gotten back in ...

I have made it to the hotseat 3 times in WDW and 1 time in California Adventure on my first show! My highest point value has only been 16,000. This last time I walked away just to get my next higher set of pins, since I had no clue about the answer and had used up my lifelines. I collect disney pins, so I did want them!

My husband has been in the hotseat 1 time and made it to the 125,000 question, going back to 32,000.

The joke in our house is...which is better?
Quantity of times or highest point value?!!
Maybe you all can solve our dilemma!

Also, hubby has been the stranger on the phone for someone inside during the show. And he even knew the answer!

My DD was in the Hotseat in May 2002, just after her 11th birthday. My DH made it in Oct. 2002. They each just got past the 1000 point level. It was so much fun watching them there! Still waiting for my turn, surely I can make it to at least 32,000! Diana

yeah, I'm SPAM (writer of this thread) 's teen sister. And i had my camcorder..i would have loved to have taped it. lol, when she got to go down to the hot seat, she was rank number 1, and i was number 2..twin power lol.

I made it to 64,000 and also walked:p ! I did not know the answer to 125,000 but she asked me to guess-I would have been right!:o ! I did get to stay after everyone else left and they let DH take my pic in the hotseat. No one else was allowed to sit there for this:D !

I have been on the hot seat six times, my DS has been four times and one of my DDs have been once. My wife has been close a couple of times and each time my DS and I lose, she has known the correct answer.

I met on the DB a Disers named JonathonSullivan who is a past million point winner who has been on numerous time (he is a local) and has made it once to the hot seat at DCA. We both hate the thirty day rule and I am still hoping that Disney will change that rule one day.

Getting on the hot seat is a blast. Congratulations for making it.

How do you get to the Hot seat? This will be my first time to WDW in 12 years! Any pointers?

yeah, but you are allowed to take your picture in it afterwards..so its ok. Pointers: Know what your answer will be..press it as soon as you know..rather than waiting. Just keep pressing it, over and over. uh..i dunno anyone else have one?

If the search function is working there was a good but long thread on the thirty day rule on the DB. Several great tips were given about how to get on the hot seat. One of the key is that the machines start taking answers after the third answer is given or exposed. If none of the first three answers are correct, then it is risky but I normlly guess D without seeing the answer.

Have fun. Once you get on the hot seat, you will be hooked.

Been there twice, have 2 shirts. 12 year old DD made it by pressing randomly on fastest finger question. she made it to 800 only, got a clueless phone a complete stranger who was no help! It was a blast.

Well, not exactly. I was #1 on the top ten after the hot seat contestant lost! But of course the buzzer sounded...

In my experience the time when the machines start accepting answers varies from question to question.

I have been to the WWTBAM show maybe 15 times and the highest I have finished is third. The way I see it is, that out of the two hot seat spots during the show, the first seat is pure luck. Of the 600 or so people in the audience, many just push the buttons in a random manner and with that many people, at least one will "guess" the correct sequence of numbers. The winning time is sometimes just a second or two. I've seen a young child win the first hot seat and have a parent come to the chair to help with the answers. The second hot seat is the fastest from the audience, for all the questions asked to the first hot seat contestant. After the second hot seat person is finished they will show the top rankings from the audience, but that winner just has bragging rights an no hot seat.

It's a fun show.

I made it my first visit to the WWTBAM in Disneyland's California Adventure. It was a complete surprise, and I was by myself because my boyfriend was at a business meeting during the day that day. Needless to say it was a little embarrasing when the host asked who I was with, in front of 300 people!

I got to 8,000 points...so I got the hat, lanyard and pins. It was pretty fun. Considering I've never seen the tv show, I think I did pretty good!

Yeah it was really fun getting on the show because I love WWTBAM! I only made it to 1,000 but I think tahts pretty good for a teenager, especially when its really nervewracking benig up there in front of so many people, also you ahve a time limit so you dont have that long to think it through. I got some stupid question about a clock and the hands and maybe waht was a 1/4 of the clock wuith the hands, i dunno.....it seemed ridiculously difficult at the time. anyway I hope other people get to make it to the hot seat because its a great experience!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I made it twice in one vacation back in 2001. First time, missed the 32,000 question, out of lifelines. The second time, I got to the 125,000 before I missed. Got a nice shirt plus the pins the second time.

Now you can only get in the hotseat once every 30 days. My son made it last year and missed the 64,000 question. He got the same shirt plus pins.

He even got the top 10 again, but had to decline because of the time rule. Now he is a Disney Store employee and can play, but not get in the hot seat.

Hint, if you get above 32,000 and dont know....take the pins and run. The pins above 32,000 are more rare, cause people try to go for it all and usually fall back to 32,000.

Now, after I get onto the hot seat once on a trip, I have fun qualifying again and again so I can decline and tell the audience why. Disney does not like talking about the thirty day rule.

I have made it past 32,000 point four out of my six trips. I do not really care about the pins and can not imagine walking away just to keep a couple extra pins.
