I am neurotic about having a clean house. Over the past 24 hours my house has been completely overtaken by the nasty little beasts.. ANTS.. GROSS LITTLE ANTS.. EVERYWHERE> I am washing, spraying, everything. They started in The kids bathroom, then Cameo's room.. oh she had some stuff stashed in her room:( I have never used the mad smilie before...
This am they attacked the kitchen, they got the cake that was in a covered cake saver and then the little deviates began crawling on everything.. YUCK>>> they even got to the dry dog food...

Thank you for letting me vent... it is back to the kitchen for me.
Thank goodness Cameo is able to help me, since I can not get on the floor or mop... She is winning brownie points today!

YUCK, when those things invade they are relentless, aren't they? Good luck getting rid of them

Mamajoan,

If you figure out how to get rid of the critters, would you please let me know?????

We've been invaded for about 2 days now, and just when I think I've got them, there are some more.

And my 5YO does not want to squish them, so he has been carrying them outside and letting them go. Think it's the same 20 or so ants just playing with us? :p :p :p :p :p

I've always put cinnamon along the thresholds and window sills and it worked pretty good. Last month my friend told me to use salt instead. I haven't had one ant in my house since I tried it. Works great.

wow! salt - hadn't heard about that one. I've heard about drawing a chalk line to keep them out.

Baby powder works too...like a charm! Make sure it's the "talc"kind though....that's what gets um!! We have started getting some in the house in the last couple of days too....wonder why? Good luck with your counter attack!!!

We have had ants in our house before. Spraying vinegar in the cracks and around the woodwork has really helped.

Do I have some information for you :) Thanks to Webmaster CC!!

Try to find where you think they are coming in and place a few Bounce fabric softener sheets there, you will never see another ant! I know this sounds crazy but believe me, it works! I had tiny ants totally invading my kitchen and since I did this, I have not seen one ant!

Try it!!

Joan,

Can't give you any advice on the ants. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T SAVE THE CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was seeing ants for a couple days about a month ago. I was seeing more & more each day. Started following them & realized they were traveling around the kitchen & to the .......SUGAR BOWL! That was the ONLY thing in the kitchen that hadn't already been put in ziploc or rubbermaid. There were tons of ants in there.

DH threw the sugar bowl in a ziploc & heading for the woods; where he sprayed Raid in the bag. That got rid of those. For the ones remaining in the house, I sprayed Raid ( they make a nice country scent version). And then sprayed Raid around the outside of the house where I saw them entering.

Saw my last ant about 1 hour later. It's been 1 month - no more ants.

And all food (cereal, cookies......) is still in rubbermaid or ziploc. I figure they moved onto someone elses house.
