Did anyone on the 9/18 cruise do the Antigua 4x4 tour? We are booked for it on the 10/2 cruise. Was it run by TropiKelly Trails?
Any feedback on that excursion or Antigua in general would be appreciated!

We did the Off-Road 4x4 when in Antigua on the 9/18 Magic. I can't remember for sure the name of the company...but I'm pretty sure it was Tropikelli (sp). Our driver was Deano - very nice and knowledgable AND he ran the air conditioning, which helped alot in the heat and humidity :-)

Overall, you do quite a bit of driving (about 1/2 on road and 1/2 more rugged/off road). The rainforest was not what I would consider a rainforest AT ALL. We did enjoy our stop at the beach for about 30 minutes. There were a couple of ladies there to follow you around for the first few minutes trying to sell you wraps and beaded-jewelry.

If you want to really see how people live all over Antigua, then it's a good tour. Also, the views from the first stop, Monk's Hill, were fantastic.

If you have back problems, are pregnant or get motion sick riding in the back seat of a full (each veh seats 6 plus driver), hot vehicle, then I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, it was interesting, had some fun "off road" moments, and allowed you to see the various conditions in which the locals live.

One more comment about Antigua -- the "shopping" district was not all that impressive, in fact, the area right around the dock was more run down than I had expected.

Overall, I'd visit one of the beaches or do one of the "sea" based excursions next time.:D

Anyone else do this one?
I'm hearing that maybe I should consider changing excursions?

Thought I would give my feed back on this tour for anyone doing it on the 10 Day cruise.

First of all, Antigua is not as upscale as St. Thomas or St. John, so don't be upset when you see the "real" Carribean. You will see lots shacks and goats grazing by the road.

As for the Tour.....it is Super! It is a 4x4 adventure, so don't expect air conditioning and leather seats in your truck. Yes- there are 7 people plus a driver, so groups are a little strange and my DH had to sit in the front seat, but they did not totally break up groups. So enough of the slight negatives....the terrain was fun and the views were spectacular. By far much better than an island bus tour. There ride was rough and the two pre-teen boys in the back seat who were "Joe Cool" when we started were kind of whimpering by the end. Be prepared to hold on and have fun! :teeth: Great tour and I would hightly recommend for the adveturesome!
