What have been your best and/or worst experiences with the antics at Whispering Canyon Cafe??

I will be trying this restaurant in December with two 14 year old boys, an 11 year old boy, and a 4 year old girl.

I am hoping to see some action going on, but I am just curious as to what type of antics you have all experienced.

Kim:D

There was an elderly set of couples from Georgia whom the waitress made get up and sing and dance "you put your right hand in, you put your right hand out"...soon most of the restaurant was singing and dancing.
Kids doing the wooden stick horse races.
Ketchup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard they do something to anyone who asks for ketchup. I am not sure what it is.

You have to go and find out. :p
In the early morning for breakfast there isn;t nearly as much excitement except with the ketchup. I mean who can eat potatos without ketchup. It was such an innocent request!

Make sure to wash your hands in the restroom too. My waiter asked the whole place if they thought I had or not and told them he didn't think so. Of course I did, but I had to go back and do it again with my DS as a witness.

Won't share any "trade secrets" but have your four year old ask for more crayons ;)
Take your sense of humor...its a fun place :jester:

UGH!!! We couldn't stand the antics at WCC. Maybe it was just too much after a long day in the parks, but we were not amused. Our server's humor was a bit off color, it was LOUD with kids screaming, the servers clacking their tray stands like horse's hoofs, and the pointing out of anyone having to use the restrooms. The food wasn't all that good, and the service was very slow as well. Dd fell asleep before the food ever got to the table... (how she could sleep through all of that noise is beyond me).

We enjoy the antics at 50's Prime Time Cafe... but WCC was just WAY too much.

That being said, we liked breakfast there... we got there when the 1st opened, so the antics weren't in full swing. The breakfast was good, as was the service. I don't know that I would have enjoyed it as much later in the morning, however!

I didn't like this place either. I was there with my 11-year old daughter and she was "made" to get up and sing happy birthday at the table of another child. She did NOT like feeling like a spectacle.

I see the ages of your kids and the fact that 3 of them are boys (I have a boy too). Unless your kids are extroverts, I think they're at an age where they might it embarrassing to be made the center of attention.

We did NOT like this restaurant. First, the food was not very good. Very bland and the meat was tough. (kids meals were okay). But most of all...we did not get ANY special interaction from our waiter. Nothing, nada, nope! But they did do kid's activities like races, etc. every half hour in the front of the restaurant.

They tried to seat us in a little alcove behind the main room but since I had been on these boards I knew the kids would miss out so I asked for the main room. Had to wait a few minutes extra but at least they got to play the little games with everyone else (since our waiter was having a bad day!).

We had a great time here last week. My favorite was when some lady was on her cell phone (how can you hear anything in there is beyond me) and her waitress goes "Everyone, quiet down!!! She's on her cell phone!!!" It was cute.

I think the WCC is the kind of place you need to go into with a very open mind. Be prepared for the ribbing. I have eaten there several times and I agree that the food at dinner is disappointing. However, the lunches we've had there have been superb. Best burger I've ever had!!!! It also seems a wee bit tamer at noon time. My kids LOVE the WCC, in fact we'll be there this Sat for DD 5th B'day (it was her choice ). I am such a big fan of the WL anyhow, that just being there is a good time.

We had a fun experience at WCC a couple of weeks ago. We found the food to be just so, but our 'oh so cool' 12 year olds really found this place a hoot. We had a slightly different scenario come up with the hand washing than was posted above, and the waitress resolved an argument between my dd6 and ds12 in a very funny way. We would probably go back in spite of the lackluster food.

I have not eaten here in a few years. I have eaten there several times before and loved it. I think this is a place that either youo love it or hate it. THE LAST TIME I went the food was really poor even by WDW standards. If you want a quiet and restful meal, do NOT go here. The early servers all had hockey names and it was a blast. I went solo so theey were cautous around me, I was a 30 something male there alone. They did a cutest thing with newlyweds. They did a rehitching as they called it. It was a shotgun wedding with the groom in a laso(very loose BTW).

My daughter is a very light eater. Her waiter (Jeffro) told her she couln't have dessert unless she finished her supper. Of course she couldn't, so he ate some of it for her, which she thought was very funny!:D

WE ATE LUNCH THERE OUR LAST DAY . I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. THE HOBBY HORSE RIDE TO THE TABLE GOT THINGS OFF TO A GREAT START! OUR WAITER WAS GREAT. AT FIRST WE DIDIN'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE HIM. BY THE END OF THE MEAL HE WAS LIKE FAMILY ( YOU KNOW LIKE AN ANNOYING COUSIN YOU TRY TO AVOID AT FAMILY REUNIONS). WE HAD A SMALL MAGIC MOMENT ... YOUNGEST DAUGHTER HAD A TUMMY BUG. BY THE TIME WE WERE READY TO ORDER SHE REALLY WANTED TO TAKE A NAP. THE CHAIRS ARE REALLY LARGE SO SHE LEANED OVER AND LAID HER HEAD DOWN ON MY LAP. OUR WAITER CAME OVER AND GOT AN EXTRA CHAIR AND MADE A MAKE SHIFT BED WITH TWO CHAIRS AND THEN WENT AND GOT A BLANKET TO COVER HER UP. I JUST GOT FINISHED WITH MY SCRAPBOOK PAGE FOR THAT MEAL. I WISH I HAD GOTTEN PICTURES OF OUR WAITER TENDING TO MY DD.

Ask for M.T. to be your server.
She is a blast!

(And make sure to ask her what the M.T. stands for!)

I know (from these boards) that this place isn't everyone's cup of tea. But we had a ball!

Loosen up everybody!!!!!!!!!!!

We loved WCC when we visited in December. So much so, that we're going to dine there on our anniversary night, March 28. So if you're there, come and say hi!

Ditto on M.T. for your server. What a riot! We enjoyed our breakfast experience. I also agree that the quality of the food is just o.k. May I have a drink of water, please??
