antenna topper woes

Jeez, I live in the Atlanta area and have had my Piglet topper for years. Also have never had magnets stolen from my car either.

Now, the Pooh topper, that's a funny story. Bought one for someone who turned out to be a terrible roommate (long story). On the day I kicked her out (long story), she spitefully left the Pooh topper behind. It is one of my cats' favorite toys so the witch did me a favor!

Cats do love the toppers so beware. Don't leave them laying around unattended until you put them on. Trust me on that one.

We've had every single one of ours stolen!!

Just came back and DH put a Grumpy on his antenna. It lasted about a week. Stolen from the soccer field. We've had all of ours stolen from sports fields!! We really need to remember to take them off, but just can seem to remember. Just put a Mickey bat on for Halloween- I'm going to try to remember to take it off when I watch my kids play sports!!

I always worry about people stealing my antenna things but I've had a simpsons one, a christmas mickey, and a fantasia mickey and never had a problem. I am worried about my ghost mickey that I just put on there. It's just too cute, I hope it doesn't get taken with this rash of mickey head thefts!

My last topper was stolen from the parking lot at All Star Sports off my car! Some people are just rude!!!:confused3

That is shocking!

I have always suspected that people would try to steal the topper from my car's antennae (whether we are parked in the city or the suburbs), so we've never bought these at the parks. If I did, I would probably hide the topper in a glove compartment after I parked anywhere. Sad, but a necessity. :headache:

Instead, we bought two Disney "danglers" at WOD that have stayed on my windshield for the past five years. One is a flying Sorcerer Mickey and the other is Minnie Mouse relaxing on a swing. They look like this:

I've also seen and/or purchased: Buzz Lightyear, Tinkerbell, Flying Dumbo, and Nemo.

They cost about the same as the antennae toppers, and they come with a suction cup that "dangles" them around while the car is moving. (The suction cup actually sticks just above and behind the figure, not underneath it.) I love this little Disney touch to the inside of my car, and people who ride with me are always commenting on them. Even so, I did buy a couple of extras of these danglers, just in case!

We use silicone glue too. Had several toppers stolen and got sick of replacing them. Bad thing is we stayed at Coranado Springs last April and as we packed up to leave another family was packing up next to us. We went back to the room to get the rest of our stuff, and the family had left by the time we got back along with one of those big Disney magnets that cost around $12.00 and our yellow ribbon magnet! We had just put that Disney magnet on too! Oh well.:sad1:

We've had our stolen over the years too. Now I still buy them, but I put them on my kitchen windowsill and change for holidays, etc. It's so awful that people would steal them, but I guess a lot of you are having that same problem. What a shame.

i have had at least 10 stolen but agree with pp, if you put some glue on it they won't be pinched *** it's too much work to take them. i agree what a silly thing to want to steal :rotfl: but really annoying when it does

What a great idea. I always argued with GF about her getting one of these, because I know it will be stolen quickly (Such a selfish thing, no value to the person taking it Im sure, just do it for that second of joy they get at being an idiot, and dont think about the person who owns it who actually enjoys it daily). She got one this year on our second trip to Disney (how lucky, WDW and DL in one year!) and we haven't put it on months later for that reason. Now we have the perefct solution! Thanks again!!

Our princess mickey head was stolen within a week of us getting home. My daughters were so upset!

But I read somewhere on this board if you glue it on they will bend your attenae and break it sometimes to get it off!

DH and I both got new cars this year and neither one has an antenna.......AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my toppers, booo hooo, I'm sooo sad.

On a trip back from WDW in our small RV we had our pirate mickey topper stolen from the top of the RV. When my husband put it on he had to use a large step ladder to reach the top of the attenna. We could not figure how someone could reach it without getting on something fairly tall. This thief really had to work hard for that small piece of foam. We also had a Grumpy and Tinkerbell magnets on the sides that were way easier to take but they must have less street value.

Our DS8 bought a soccer one with his own money to put on mom's van and sure enough someone stole it at his soccer game.
DH glues them on now too. We have two on the van now (one on the antena and another on the Onstar antena) We have even taken them through the car wash and they made it through. One tip with the mickey one's is to turn them sideways so the ears don't resist the air so much and then antena doesn't bend.

Yeah, those toppers are irresistable to cats. Last year my cat managed to chew my new topper up right away. I had gotten the same one I already had on my car to replace. But after the cat got at it, the one already on my car was in better shape!

I'm lucky that I've never had one stolen though. I think it helps that my antennae is in the middle of the car over the back window. I need to open a back door and stand on the seat to even get them on!

The silicone is a good idea! Maybe I'll try it, just to be safe.

I haven't had any stolen, but the terrible wind storm that came through Ohio about 3 weeks ago, wacked one of the ears off of my Mickey! I'm in the market for a new one too!:goodvibes That laughingplace web site looks great, I'll find one.

That would have been Hurricane Ike that left a swath of devastation in Texas and left millions (including yours truly) without power for more than a week.

I don't understand this stealing antenna toppers thing. I would never put one on my car and expect it NOT to get stolen. You just can't trust anyone these days (so sad).

My antenna topper is on the antenna of my radio on my desk.

I have had several stolen off of my car too. One time we drove to vegas for the weekend and my mickey topper was stolen at the hotel parking lot. I have just about given up on them. Now when I have a Jack in the Box topper no one steals that.

We just came back a few weeks ago and I got my very first antenna topper. I got the Mickey ears with the sorcerers hat. Well, less then a week later the ears had blown off (no overly bad weather either). I called disney today and the lady gave me a hard time about sending a replacement free of charge without a reciept. First of all, why would i keep a recaipt for that. Second of all, the only reason I expect them to compensate me is that it had to have been defective to loose the ears (and only the ears the hat stayed on just fine) after less then a week. If it had been stolen or I had it on for a very long time I would have just sucked it up and bought a new one next year, but there must have been something wrong with this one. I just hope nobody steals my new one.

Somehow it does not seem necessary to be so snippy in the post.

Anyways, I'm shocked at how many people have had toppers stolen! My parents both have toppers (my car antenna is not a good fit for them) and the only enemy to their toppers is the wear and tear of Ohio weather.

See my Tag. Two were taken at ball fields, and one at a parking lot I think, hard to remember my new car has a retractable antenna. The 4th, I'll never forget, I watched the fiend rip Mickey off my car, tear it in pieces with his teeth, and drop them on the ground with nothing but disdain. I still believe Six Flags trained those safari Orangutan's to do that.

I got back about a month ago. Went to work with my new Pirate Mickey topper, and gone. Not even a week old. I posted on Disboards my frustration. Many suggested not to glue it on antenna as some will break antenna off to get it. Low and behold, a wonderful Diser sent me a new one! This one is safely inside my car now! :goodvibes
