Report: Ride Did Not Play Role In Man's Death At Disney World
July 23, 2005 12:53 p.m. EST
Douglas Maher - All Headline News Staff Reporter
Kissimmee, FL (AHN) - A report says a 30-year old man who died a few hours after complaints of not feeling well when he stepped off the "Dinosaur" ride at Disney World's Animal Kingdom park, had health problems that led to his death.
Ryan Norman of Mooresville, Indiana wore a pacemaker according to documents released from the Bureau of Fair Rides and Exhibitions and the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office.
Sheri Blanton, Senior Program Manager with the medical examiner's office says, "An investigative report indicated that the April 30 ride didn't play a role in Norman's death because he had a history of heart problems."
Disney has exprienced PR problems over the last year with incidents on their rides, including a 4-year-old Pennsylvania boy, Daudi Bamuwamye, who died June 13 after riding Epcot's "Mission: Space." The investigation into his death is on-going.
A 16-year old British girl suffered a stroke on "The Tower of Terror" ride at Universal Studios on July 12 after she exited the ride. She remains in critical condition.
A 77-year old Minnesota woman, Gloria Land, died in February after riding the Magic Kingdom's "Pirates of the Caribbean," but also had major health problems over the last few years.
