Another Yacht/Beach decision thread

Need help!
Right now we are booked in a Yacht Club Garden View room for 10 nights in September. I'm tempted to switch to the Beach Club b/c a lot of what I've read seems that it is more family friendly. I know the BC is closer to Epcot/Boardwalk and I haven't decided how much that extra few minutes is worth. I do need affirmation that I've made the right choice.

Bit of background: DH and I are coming with our DS7 and DD2. Our visit last year ended up a split POP/CBR. Started at POP and had horrible luck with our room and awful interactions with CMs (even had one CM refer to another using a derogatory racial slur ). We were upgraded and moved to a CBR Pirate room. Loved CBR grounds, pool, and room. At CBR I didn't find the CMs overly friendly and again had room issues (not working fridge after 5 calls but figured I didn't pay for it so I couldn't complain too much). During that trip I had a fantastic interaction at the YC when picking up a cake and found that their CMs went above and beyond . It was then that I swore we would stay there on our next trip.

So, will we LOVE the Yacht Club or is the Beach Club a more reasonable choice?
Not sure if it matters but the Yacht Club room decor is more appealing to me and as far as balconies, DH doesn't think we would spend a lot of time out there. Generally, we don't spend a ton of time in the room anyway. Next trip will be in a few years so I will be open to the other resort then.

We've stayed at both BC and YC and love both. We have a slight preference for BC but mostly because we just prefer the light and airy decor. Contrary to what some people say YC is not stuffy and families feel right at home. Our kids were young when we stayed there and we never felt out of place.

I agree that BC/YC CMs are fantastic.

BC is a little closer to EPCOT and YC is a little closer to the water taxis but both are only a few minutes farther.

I would go by whatever decor appeals to you. If a full balcony is important I would stick with YC.

For all intents and purposes, they are the same resort. Yes, the decor is different, and the vibe at BC is a bit more vibrant, but the YC is so peaceful we love both very much. We always stayed at the YC prior to becoming DVC members. As far as the walking distance to Epcot and the BoardWalk to me, is a non-issue. If you prefer the decor at the YC, I would keep the reservation. Enjoy your stay, whatever you decide, I truly believe you will not be disappointed!

Thank you. I just needed to hear that we would love the YC from someone else. DH offered to flip a coin but I am way too much of a control freak to allow that!

Stick with YC - al CM's at both resorts are fantastic!!! I really like the decor at YC and feel it is more home to me. I have stayed both resorts and prefer YC.

You'll love YC! You can't lose if you stay at BC or YC. Both are beautiful and the close walk right into the international gateway is beyond perfect!

We stayed at YC March 2011, our kids were 8 and 4. They loved it and we loved it. We stayed at BC March 2010- loved it too- but liked YC a bit more. They really are not much different from each other since they share the same pool and are right next door to each other. YC rooms are still very bright and airy. It was more peaceful to come back to YC lobby vs. BC since Cape May is always bustling with families. One is not more family friendly than the other- it is Disney!!!! Have fun!

Love the YC; we stayed with kids and loved it. Its really the same hotel. Like two sides of the same coin.

We stay there every year. My 6 yr old loves it. The CM at YC go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. It is just wonderful and our favorite resort.

I have only stayed at YC and we LOVE it. Actually will be there in 63 days!!!!! I have walked through the BC and they are pretty much the same. I would not sweat which one you get~you will be at Disney!! Don't forget both have access to Storm Along Bay!! I'm sure your family will be happy with which ever one you chose and will be none the wiser of the one you didn't. Check out the thread of the YC/BC here on the Dis- great stuff. Maybe that will help you- tons of photos! Have a great trip!

Why don't you split your stay? You will be there long enough.

We love the YC, but will never turn down a BC room if that's all we can get there.

I like the YC because of the balconies and decor and I think housekeeping is one of the best on property.

You will love the pool.

We have been to the BC several times,..as you can see in my siggie--we love it! I actually tried twice to get the YC and it was full/not available with the discount we had... I would be fine with either one..different enough in decor to appear to be their own place,but really the same--and it all flows so nicely into the SAB & Beaches & Cream area!! I think since you already have you should just stick with it...unless like a pp said, you want to split your nights between the two. We will actually be there again our next trip-I think you will that area as much as we do!!
