Another "When should we go" thread! June vs. August

So my mom wants to go to Disney World. I ALWAYS want to go to Disney World so I'm fine with it. The issue is when to go. Currently, the dates we are considering is sometime in June or mid to late August.

I'm aiming for a 6 night stay with 6 days in the parks with no park hopper option. Preferred hotel of choice is Pop Century due to the dedicated bus transportation.

Average cost seems to be around the $1500-1600 range without flight using the current promo.

I really would like to go in August since the crowds are supposed to be down. I figure in June, crowds will be heavier since it's summer and Pandora will be open and with all the wait time in lines we might not get to do everything we'd want to do so I'm not sure if an additional day or 2 would be the best option to make sure of that. I'm probably being overly paranoid but who knows.

I'd also like to steer away from times when the chanting, arm linking, tour groups are there.

If both options would work, which would seem like the best option? Getting to go sooner or going when it's less crowded?

I think August is probably your best bet, the later in the month the better. Not sure mid-August is going to be much different than June, but the last week you may find the crowds dropping off. I seem to recall in 2016 there were reports of very light crowds from about the middle of August but I don't know for sure that you can count on that repeating.

I've gone in both June and August. August is so much hotter than June and I wouldn't go then unless it was my only choice. The heat and humidity are really unbearable and we took breaks every afternoon. We brought my mom, sister and her kids on the August trip and I feel so bad that the weather was so uncomfortable.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I saw that the 2nd half of August, crowds thin out due to schools starting again. I did see one crowd calendar that said June had "moderate" crowds but then the others I looked at all reported heavy crowds so it's a bit confusing :/

Meant to add this to my last response. Oops.

Weather isn't a huge deal. We figure it'll be hot whichever time we choose and take precautions if needed.

I've gone the first 2 weeks in June and mid to late August and you couldn't pay me to go back again...in August. No way. That kind of heat is a dealbreaker for me. For others, not so much. June is rather hot, too, and I didn't love it, but it wasn't as muggy and unbearable and stifling as August. I like for Florida to feel like summer, not like a sauna. That is the difference between June and August.

And I thought the crowds the first 2 weeks in June weren't bad at all. Just follow the crowd calendar maps and your fine. Not all the kids are out of school yet anyway at that point.

Also, since you mention crowds being important to you, if you visit http://**************.net/wp-conten...-Ranked-in-Order-from-**************.net_.jpg you can see the first week in June is actually ranked 18th, and the rest of the weeks are 30, 31, and 40 from beginning to end. While August weeks, ranked in order are 17, 28, 26, 25. So, as you can see the difference for crowds between those two months is really mostly negligible, aside from that last week in June

I think June will be busier than usual because of Pandora, and I think August will be busier than usual because of extended Halloween and food and wine. But if we learnt anything from last year, it's crowds can be unpredicaltable and all over the place. I would just go which ever date is works best for you practically. I would probably pick June due to slightly lower temperature.

I know I am always in the minority in this discussion, but i prefer August. Full disclosure, that's when I go due to other commitments, but i have been there in mid July as well and didn't like it. The heat does not bother us too much. You go in and out of AC attractions so it makes it more bearable. We go poolside midday, and back to the parks in the evening. The crowds are definitely thinner and the camps (see other threads for info on those) are done for the season. Hydrate and enjoy.

If you're willing to do rope drop and then take an afternoon break from the heat, the last week in August will be better for crowds. If you can't go that week I'd go the first week of June because the weather should be better.

Late August for sure. June is just as hot and way more crowded. We have always had a great time on our late August trips :)

We always go mid-late August,
The crowds are very manageable as everyone stated previously
We always have a great time this time of year, despite the heat

This year, I'd go in June...too many new events piled into August which will bring crowds and reduce hours...June is likely to have extended hours to deal with crowds every day you are there...

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. It seems to be somewhat of a toss up. We will discuss it and go from there.

I have gone the last week in June and in the middle of August. They were about the same crowds and weather. August had a little more rain storms in the afternoon but it was hot both months.
