Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

Well, I'm off to Target to buy a digital video camera!!! I've spent too much of our Disney fund on making outfits for the kids, I need to replenish the account!!

Thanks so much for sharing this!!! If someone feels like doing it, a list of everyone's ExpoTV user names and coordinating DIS names would be a great idea so we can add each other to our lists of videos to watch. Just a suggestion.

I thought I recognized your Incredibles picture from the Disney Boutique Custom thread!! I haven't been able to tear myself away from my machine to make any videos either!! LOL

Check here for a list of all of our usernames over on Expo.....now we can add each other over there, and start watching each others videos....start earning those pennies for Disney! :lmao:

Thanks, Lisa for doing this!! I'll check in on the list tonight and add the rest of your to my friends list!

I wondered if there was a lot of action on this thread since so many people asked to be added to my friends list today! I knew it had to be the Dis!! LOL

I made my first video tonight on my digital camera (Kodak Easyshare DX7440) and tried to import it into Windows Movie Maker. I'm getting an error message that the file can't be imported as it might be corrupted. It is a .mov file and that is not supported in Movie Maker, so I went to this website to try to get it converted to a .wmv file. Still didn't work. I did some more troubleshooting and found that I may be missing some "codec" file, so I downloaded that. It STILL WON'T WORK!!!! Agghhh!! I really wanted to do this.

Does anyone have any other ideas of what I can do to be able to upload the video to Windows Movie Maker. Do I really need to do that? Can I just upload directly to expotv with a Quicktime/.mov file?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciate!!

Jen

from their site:
What kinds of formats or files do you accept?
Please make sure the files are in one of these formats: WMV, MPG, MP4, MOV or AVI, and do not exceed 50MB in size. In addition, please use standard video codecs and encode the video to a 320x240 pixel window size.

so you should be ok with the .mov as long as it is 320X240 pxels (which you can change on the camera settings) and under 50 mb in size

I went ahead and just tried to bypass Windows Movie Maker and upload my video. It took FOREVER!! I had to just leave the computer on overnight and go to bed. When I woke up it said that it had been successfully uploaded.

However when I went to the place that they say you can view your videos, it said that it wasn't available. Does that mean that I probably didn't do it right or is there some other reason that it didn't work?

Ok, I'm replying to my own post. My video went from not available to being able to be previewed. :cool1:

How long does it typically take to go from the "pending" status to being accepted?

If this works I'm really going to have to get over how embarrassed I feel watching myself on camera--yuck!! :worried:

Yes, this is what I do. I also have a Kodak Easyshare. I don't have to do anything with the video. First I move it to my computer. Then when it asks for the file, you just browse and find it on your computer. I do this so I don't have to keep my camera on the whole time it is uploading.

HTH,

Do you guys typcially have someone else record you or do you do it yourself??

The "pending" status just depends on how behind they are in getting the videos put together. Mine took about 1 1/2 weeks. Regardless of when they are ready to view on the site, you get paid for when you uploaded them onto the site. (I got paid for June videos; uploaded them around June 25; they were ready to view on July 6; paid July 11).

I'm using a Kodak Easyshare camera and it saves as a .mov file and I just directly upload it like that to their website!

I have a question about the description part. How detailed to you guys make your descriptions? Are we being evaluated on the content of them?

You don't have to watch yourself. I just watched the first couple of mine and that was it.
What is the saying??? Everyone has their price?? and mine is $5 for 1-3 minutes!!:rotfl:

I do it myself. My husband also have an acct. (fishfood). But he is so busy working that he just records himself and I upload them for him.

When you record yourself do you get up and turn the camera on and off..

I would like to know the same thing, luker here that joined but not sure if I can figure this whole thing out (not very computer savy) I have a kodak easyshare too with the video feature. But I don't know how I could do it myself? I guess I would have to figure out a way to "prop" up the camera? Any tips for those that do it yourself??

Also is it against any rules to use your husband or kids in the video??

I have a tripod that came with my old vhs video camera that I have been using. I just turn it on and then sit down and make the video. Then when I'm done I turn it off.

I've made and uploaded 2 videos so far but they are still "pending" so I'm not sure if they will actually be accepted. I'm crossing my fingers that it will work! This would be a really easy way to make some extra money for WDW.

Thanks again to the Dis for another great idea!! :disrocks:

Okay, just uploaded my first video, same user name as here. But now what? How do I know if it was under 50 MB, it took it no problem. I had my camera set on the higher resolution or pixel or whatever and have now just changed it to 320x240. I just want to make sure that I am not wasting my time or talking too long, etc. I seem to make long videos and talk for about 3 minutes!

I just noticed in true disney fashion, I have on a disney t, on my bed with disney comforter and reviewed huggies wipes, in a disney container!

I want to do it but it sounds too good to be true.

What are they making off our reviews? Where do they get the money to pay five dollars per review?
