I don't know why I never thought of this before, but I recently got a $20 check in the mail from Walgreen's to use in the store if I transferred or brought in a new prescription. I usually bring my scripts to CVS, and have never used Walgreen's before. I did have a new script, plus we just got prescription coverage through dh's work.

I had to pay my $5 co-pay out of pocket, but they validated my $20 check and I was able to use it for whatever I wanted. I ended up buying things we will need on our trip (they had light chasers!), Crayola Color Wonder markers, deodorant ;) , etc.

I ended up purchasing two items that were free after a rebate, so Walgreen's will be sending me a gift card for $8!!

This is a great way to get some extra money for things you will buy for your trip anyway!

Marcy - I often see these coupons here in NJ too, but the small print always says you must be 62 or older to use the coupon. I guess the law is different here. Always annoys me too. I don't know why they can't do the same for everyone. Personally, I think it is age discrimination.

Steve,
That's strange, isn't it? I (eh hem) didn't read the fine print, but I didn't have a problem with getting my check validated by the pharmicist!

I always received those checks and just tore them up because I didn't want to be bothered, but this time I thought "They are giving me money and I can use it for Disney!".....LOL

Every month Walgreens has a rebate book. Some things are free! or money off.

You basically buy what you want out of there, save the receipt and send in all the reciepts with the book form.

You can get a gift card (if you choose this they give you an extra 10%) or a check.

This month some of the free after rebate:

3 deoderants
toothpaste
Nair
Dove shampoo or conditioner

I am going to start getting the checks. Then when I cash them use them for DD. Food and spending money will be 88% DD.

You can find the rebate online too.. www.walgreens.com

I always go through the rebate book and buy the free things - especially if I have a coupon for it. Then I make money buying it.

Actually, here in Mass., CVS has been offering customers a $25 gift card to transfer any prescription and there is no age limit. DH got turned off to our corner drugstore after they scolded him(!) for using too much of a prescription eye ointment!! "You shouldn't need a refill so soon, etc. etc." Alot of it is wasted if it doesn't make it to the eye. He's paying a huge co-pay for the prescription and his doctor is willing to write the refilll, but the pharmacy still felt they had to chastise him like he's 7 instead of 57. That pharmacy just lost all of our business, which goes back 10 years. And yes, DH spoke to the owner, who in turn supported his pharmacy tech.

BTW, we can always use the CVS gift card for suntan lotion and other WDW necessities.

The Target Sunday sales circular, which I assume is national, does a $10 off any new or transferred prescription every couple months. I always cut it out b/c you never know when someone will get sick. When I bought my Easter basket candy, I had two of those cards! You even get the card if your co-pay is LESS than $10. I also have gotten $10 cards at Kmart and at one of our grocery stores. I would love to get that CVS $25 offer. A Walgreens is opening less than 5 minutes from my house -- I hope they do that $25 offer.

There is a $10 gift card with any new or transferred prescription in today's Target circular. It expires May 15. It just so happens that I have a refill I need to get before then!
