Another way to embarrass myself with technology

As if I needed more ways to make a fool of myself.

My husband bought our daughter a MACBook laptop this weekend. It has a camera built into it and if another person has the same thing, they can IM back and forth while seeing each other on their computer screens.

Well, my daughter was using it for the first time this evening and she hollered for me to come see. I went into the room and looked at the screen and I could see a picture of her friend, and a separate picture of my daughter. I was standing behind my daughter and marveling at how neat it was that they could see each other. I started laughing, making faces, and waving at her friend; you know, acting like an idiot.

Her friend then types: I see it's now a family affair!

I asked my daughter what he was talking about and she informs me, "He can see you, you know."

It didn't dawn on me that, duh, of course if he could see my daughter, he could also see me standing behind her.

Something like this happened to me recently. Only I didn't realize it at the time. My dd was on the computer and I had walked into the room to put something away. I started straightening the room up a bit, when my dd turns around and says to me "So and so just loves your jammies"

Nice. (glad I didn't have my usual "jammies" on! )

Something like this happened to me recently. Only I didn't realize it at the time. My dd was on the computer and I had walked into the room to put something away. I started straightening the room up a bit, when my dd turns around and says to me "So and so just loves your jammies"

Nice. (glad I didn't have my usual "jammies" on! )

I had on my pajamas, too, which consisted of plaid, flannel pants and an old, "I Love Lucy" t-shirt. I bet it'll be the last time my daughter asks me to see something on her computer!

actually they don't have to IM and type. They can open a video chat and talk like normal too. So not only can they SEE you but they can HEAR you too!

Don't worry about it too much, we all do silly things!
