Another water park ?

My ds(will be 6 on our trip)has just started swimming without "swimmies"(water wings)...he is taking swimming lessons and I hope that he will be a much stronger swimmer by our March trip...however, if he does not feel comfortable going down the slides etc. without his swimmies will he be allowed to wear them?

I can't answer your question directly, but at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach there are kids areas that are very shallow with small slides your son should feel very comfortable on. He'll have a ball!!! And probably won't want his swimmies....

Last time we were there (which granted was 4 years ago), they were. My son wore his anywhere which surprised me because around here they absolutely don't allow them in most places, and certainly not on water slides. However, I did notice that compared to our previous visit (2 years earlier) that they really were encouraging you to get a life jacket (available I believe only with a driver's license) for the kids instead. That might be an option - get him used to using one of those instead - they're much safer and I believe most places allow them. The kind they had were the kind you'd use for say waterskiing (a vest type) - not the orange bulky around the neck ones.

I really don't think you'll need them at all. The attractions that he would need them on, like the wave pools, are too much for someone just learning to tolerate the water and you'd not want to "traumatize" him just for the sake of saying he was in it.
There are seperate areas for small children at the WP and the resorts. We once took some floaties and such to our pool at the ASmo and the lifeguards made us get rid of them, so I don't think outside equipment will be allowed anyway.
Don't push his "lessons" while on the trip; just enjoy the areas specially made for his age group.
