Sorry for yet another question on the Vistana.......
I did the diamond lane check in a couple days ago with the request of the Cascades or Lakes section. I got a reply back today that we have a reservation for 2 bd./sleeps 6, and Cascades and Lakes are 2 bd/sleeps 8, therefore we cannot have these sections. They suggested calling RCI to see if they can upgrade our reservation (going to have my mom do it since we booked the extra vacation through her membership) Don't know if she will be able to get anywhere though.
So........ I was thinking of requesting the Fountains II section, this seems to be the 3rd newest? Is it comparable to the Cascades or Lakes? The only thing I have to compare it to is the Cascades since we have stayed there in the past. I just don't want to be in an 80's flashback room....

Thanks!!

Jen

As I understand it, the only 2BD sleeps 6 are in Falls. They have twin beds in the 2nd br instead of doubles.

If you upgrade your ressie, then you should be able to go with your original requests.

Ugggg... thanks for the info. Hopefully, they will let us upgrade.

Julie is correct about the Falls being the real only "sleep 6" because of the two twin beds in the second bedroom.
As for the Fountains II, yes, it is the 3rd newest. They are comparable to the Cascades/Lakes (closer to to the Lakes in decor and size). The Cascades are slightly smaller and with the most different decor colors from just about every other section.
The Fountains II/Lakes/Cascades are the only sections that have the jacuzzi tub inside the master bedroom---not the master bathroom where all other sections have them, including the Fountains I. Not sure of your check-in day, but Fountains II has Sat/Sun as check-in days. Fountains I check-ins are Fri/Sat/Sun. Fountains II also is a small area----there are many more Fountains I units. Some of the Fountains II don't have much of a view either. Units # 1601-1609; 1631-1642; 1655-1672 have only a small grassy area and a wooden fence as a view---no water/pool view.
Here's some interior pics of Fountains II when I stayed in it a few years ago:

Someone who has stayed in Fountains II in the last year or two, may be able to confirm or deny if they have been remodeled or not. I think these pics were from 2002. I've gotten the Lakes and Fountains I most recently.
Hope this helps.

Hey, Maria--Does Lakes have Sat check in days as well? I filled out our Diamond Lane check in form last night and put Lakes or Fountains II as our first choices with a ground floor in Fountains I as our next option. (I have trouble with stairs.)

Thanks for all your Vistana help!

There used to be a nice map showing the various checkin dates and unit numbers if you go to www.starwoodvo.com and then select the resort. Once you get to their webpage, it's easy to find as I recall.

What reservation number did your put in on your Diamond form?
I put the reservation number RCI gave me when I did the points exchange. . . but got a reply from Sheraton that they can't find my reservation?!?!?!?
They haven't written me back after I replied with all the info I could give them, but now I'm freaked out.

Raevyn--as I recall, the number I put in for the diamond lane was the RCI membership number, not the reservation number. Of course, this is the first time I have done this and now it is the weekend so I may have not done it correctly anyway!

Well, I just hope they can find it. . . part of the info I sent them back was the membership number, so hope fully they can find it with that. :guilty:
Ofcourse it probably is just me not providing them with the right number to begin with.

Raevyn - I put in my mothers RCI membership number (we booked it under her membership)

also an update - I had my mother call Vistana today (since technically it is booked under her and we are "guests"), and she spoke to a manager and we are "assured" that we will be in either Cascades or Lakes section. My mom told them that this trip was a gift from them and she would cancel the reservation if we were put in an old section. They were very willing to work with her on it.
She did the same thing with Orange Lake (where we are staying our first week), and we are now booked for the North section which is what we wanted.

thanks everyone!

Hi Julie,
The Lakes has plenty of Sat check-in villas. You'll probably want to ask for a ground floor in the Fountains II as well. ONly the Cascades and Lakes have elevators. Here's hoping you get your request !
And I'm glad it worked out for you, JenDaveBrendan.

Thanks for the clarification Maria--I was thinking Fountains II had elevators. Just as well, ground floor makes DH less stressed about the kids bouncing around and making noise for anyone below us.
