Another VISTANA question..... sorry!!!

Sorry to add yet another Vistana question!!!

We are exchanging into Vistana for next Spring, thru RCI.

Now, RCI tells us that Vistana will assign us a unit number a week or two before check-in... I called 1-800-VISTANA and was told that RCI has certain particular units and that RCI has assigned (or will assign) a particular unit.

??????????????????????

I feel like it is all a lot of finger-pointing so each one can deny responsibility for special requests, like for the newer units, top or bottom floor, etc.... If RCI has assigned us a unit (only a unit-TYPE shows up on our confirmation.) then Diamond Lane Check-in and any particular preferences are completely meaningless???

I just emailed Vistana, still trying to get a straight answer. But I was hoping that somebody here on the DIS might shed a little more light on the subject. This board is great!

All that RCI does is assign a certain size unit..the timeshare is the one who assigns which unit you get. We have stayed at Vistana before twice and did the Diamond Checkin and had no problems.

Actually one of the times they had us in a not as good section but we were able to persuade them to change it before we got there.

I would go ahead and send in the request about 2 weeks before you go and then follow up about a week before you go.
