My DH was laid-off yesterday! :sad1:

I was laid-off last October, but was lucky enough to find something within 48 hours (my job is in demand, and not many people are skilled in my area). But DH was in retail management, and jobs seem to be far and few in this particular area. I'm more stressed than he is, but I tend to be in permanent "react mode". I didn't sleep at all last night.

*Sigh* this is not good! :sad2:

I'm sorry!
DH is in the auto industry and I'm not looking forward to what this year might bring!

Coming from someone whose DH has experienced 7 job losses during our 25 year marriage, I say honestly that it can lead to bigger and better things. I also know that it's too soon for that to help right now, so I'll send you  and :wizard:

Hi Tracey! Gary lost his job in June. He was there 28 years. No news about a package yet. Legal crap. He started a little job in the meantime, until he knows about the 28 year job package, but THAT place let him go a week before Christmas! So he's home now and is a good Mr. Mom while I still work at school part-time. S

Same thing happened to DH in November - right when we were closing on our new house! Timing was a little bad to say the least! He is now trying to set something up out of our house....so fingers crossed on that! I did refuse to cancel our upcoming vacation though - and boy do we need it!!!!!

So sorry to hear that! I hope he finds something new very soon. :goodvibes DH has been laid off quite a few times so far... so, I know what it is like.

And, I agree with this whole-heartedly... it is sometimes a blessing in disguise.

Sorry to hear your news

I work in a dental office and am seeing that there are a lot less bookings than usual (sure it's due to the economy also) and am worried about my position also.

Just look at things as others have said "when one door closes, another door opens" and hopefully it is a better change :goodvibes

Take care and try to get some sleep tonight :flower3:

Sorry to hear that. Hope something comes up quickly!

We have been there done that too! My heart truly goes out to you b/c it is so tough. My DH was constantly laid off and it was so stressful. But... we managed and somehow you will too. For us it was a blessing in disguise he went back to school (after 18 years) and is now a teacher. Throughout all of this I learned a few things, namely is that it really makes you stronger as a person and as a couple. All the best :wizard:

Thanks for all the support, your kind words mean a lot! :lovestruc

I tend to take things to heart and get stressed easily.

Thousands of people feel your pain right along with you. But again sorry you guys have to go through this.
My DH hasn't had work for almost a month now, his last cheque comes in 2 days & we are trying not to stress as well. He is a self-employed contractor and unfortunately no one wants to buy houses and I am a SAHM. So I went out last week and got a p/t job waitressing to help w/ the bills. Although it won't pay them all, any little bit will help.
I think we all need to remember that this won't last forever and we will get through it and the only thing that really matters is family and with strong support we will all survive.

My BIL was let go from a simular position at the end of Nov. He was worried but he starts a new job next week, same job and money different place. Keep your chin up and stay positive.

So sorry to hear your news....sending you lots of

Although not quite the same, my DH is in sales and has noticed a sharp decline in income lately, so he is in the process of searching for something new, but it's been a difficult process...

Oh no..............so sorry to hear this. Hope he finds something soon. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear that :( My dh is also in retail management and lost his job when Music World went under last year; that was also a blessing in disguise but horrible news right before Christmas when I was pregnant :scared1: Anyways he's at Starbucks now, after a short stint at Best Buy, which seems really good for him. Something will come along, and it might even be better than what he had.

Just out of curiousity what company laid him off so I can avoid it when I start looking for work in May.

My wife was laid off Dec 12th this year. She was a law clerk doing mainly real estate law. She stopped at our local Walmart on her way home, applied for a cashiers position, was hired, worked something like 12 shifts and was promoted to a shift cash manager (CSM). She is still looking for something in her field, but this is good for now.

I'd prefer not to name them, but it was a "big box" pet retail store. They laid-off approximately 18-20 people, and from what he knows it was only management.
