I tried the Vicks-on-the-feet thing when I had a bad cough. It didn't seem to do much for the cough, but the arthritis in my feet felt sooooo much better!

I do the vicks for my kids. It definetly worked when my kids had that cough at night. One night I forgot to put it on the baby. He woke up coughing, so i put some on his feet and he slept all night without another cough!

Thank you! I looked it up on-line. We'll give it a shot. I can't tell you how many times my Mom has said to my sisters (8 children between them) "if we had some Save-the-Baby they'd be able to sleep."

I was sick for 4 weeks in Dec. and my DH had just heard about this. I tried it and and the whole time I was sick I only woke up once, in the middle of the night, from coughing!!

I only put it on the soles of my feet and put socks on. Can't explain it but would do it again in a heartbeat!!

I love Vicks when I have a cold but I have never heard about the feet thing...I will have to try it next time I have a cough. Does it also work with just regular cold syptoms? DH has a nasty cold with no cough and nothing else seems to be working. Of course the shock from me suggesting that I he put Vicks on his feet might clear his head up a little.

And why not, Miss Know It All? Remember CR's thread about feet and toxins? Maybe there is a link somehow. God has a sense of humor. Maybe He connected out foot bone to our head bone.
I think Vick's is some miracle cure all anyway...

Well reflexology has been in use for 100 years so there is clearly a connection between the feet and the rest of the body. I've used Vicks on my feet and it worked. I'm a big believer.

Actually I was thinking of reflexology when I mentioned the feet being connected. I can get rid of cramps by pressing a spot on my ankle. Heck, I'll be trying the Vick's. It might be better than me getting lit with Nyquil!

Bumping this up because IT WORKS. DD 14 has been up half the night coughing. She has taken cough medicine and we also put Vicks on her chest. Nothing worked. After about an hour of horrible coughs, I remembered this thread. She resisted because she won't wear socks to bed. I insisted and she gave in. Almost immediately, she stopped coughing and it's been over an hour and still no coughing! I cannot believe how quickly and well this worked! Thank you OP!

Yes IT WORKS. DS11 had a bad cough a month or so ago and I tried - his cough stopped immediately. We did it a couple of times at night when he was getting ready for bed and had no coughing. My dad also tried it and had good luck with it. He's almost 80 and is on several kinds of medication so he can't always take cold meds. Worked for him too.

I use Vicks on my feet but only to keep them soft and smooth. I don't know about other remedies, but it sure keeps feet smooth.
