We're canceling our April trip and we're thinking about canceling November too. My husband and I are going on an Alaskan cruise instead. Until the FP+ wrinkles are worked out, we're traveling elsewhere. If things are more nailed down by October, we may keep our November plans as they are. Our last trip was April 2013. This is the 1st time in 15 years that a year will go by without at least 1 Disney trip.

Congratulations on finalizing your travel plans! An Alaskan cruise will be fantastic- have a great trip!

Next in line come on in your ADRs and FP+s are now available.

By the way make sure to FP+ the water slide! I hear non reserved slides go straight into the ocean haha.

Oh and thanks for voting with your wallet. I am not anti-FP+ but if those who are don't show up there is a potential to change the system to your liking and make sure to tell disney why you cancelled.

We have friends going at the same time we were supposed to go. I'll offer them the ADRs first and then post those they don't want on the dining board. Tomorrow was the day FP+ opened for us.

I do plan to send an email to guest services.

We have enjoyed the new system. I do hope some things changes(TIERS!!!!). I think you will have lots of fun on the Alaska cruise. Been wanting to do one ourselves. Which cruise line are you going on?

Please make sure to send that email to Disney, so they know that you are canceling and why. The only way Disney will know how upset many of us are over FP+ is if we tell them. I would cancel our October trip but DD only turns 21 once, and that's why we are going- to celebrate her 21st birthday at the Food and Wine Festival!

Enjoy your Alaskan cruise! I've always wanted to do that but, alas, I get seasick too easily (yes, even on big cruise ships where you supposedly don't "feel" the motion)!

My husband's family is from the Anchorage-ish area, so I've had the pleasure of spending time in Alaska. I think the only cruise I would ever be interested in doing is the Alaska cruise, since it's out of Seattle which is home for us. I hope you have a wonderful trip, and I hope you get to see an orca pod or two on the way up! :thumbsup2

An Alaskan cruise? Awesome! I think you made a good choice. Disney will still be there next year. And as you said, but in my words, maybe by then they will have this mess straightened out.

We have been AP holders the last few years and were going to WDW 2-3 times a year - before that every few years since 1972.

Our last trip was also April '13, but we have made other vacation plans this year, and will wait and see what Disney is willing to do to straighten out what we see as 'messies' to their system which wasn't 'broken' to begin with.

We may continue to enjoy other destinations more from now on.

We are also going to Alaska on a cruise (not Disney) instead of renewing our AP's. I wonder what other travel destinations will benefit from the negative impact of FP+'s? ;) "Hey, the Grand Canyon is packed this week. Why aren't all these people at Disney World?"

We would have done a Disney Alaska cruise if they sailed from Seattle, but Vancouver just is way too pricey to get to from Rhode Island. Our Seattle fare was not that much more than what we pay to get to Orlando! (Not to mention that the cruise itself cost less than half of the Disney cruise.)

If things settle down on the FP+ front, and they resolve the issues with AP passholders and/ or park hopping, then maybe we'll go back next year. By then I might even have a smart phone!

Honestly, I love FP+ and think it works well, but I mean, nobody has to go back to Disney six times a year every year. There's a whole wide world out there.

I've always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise. I hope you have a great time!!

Why wouldn't you want to spend thousands of dollars while FP+ is in testing? that way if you have problems you can just chalk it up to testing. Seems like a win win.

That one is for you Amy!!

I'm pretty sure they aren't really testing anything anymore.

Unfortunately, imho FP+ and MDE are working as Disney expected. So they are what they are.... Have a great time on your cruise. I just said in another thread for what you spend for a WDW trip you can do a cruise. Make sure to take some time and look at the rocks... Lots of great rock formations in Ak...

Obviously I don't know your travel plans for Alaska, but if you would like a suggestion, keep reading: :)
When we went to alaska, we did a one way cruise, where we started in Seattle and/or Vancouver and ended up in Seward. We went to exit glacier and From there we rented a car and went to Denali State Park....it's the Yellowstone National Park of Alaska. So beautiful and so worth a few extra days. So much wildlife, mountains, and scenery.
Anyways, the difficult part is the airfare because your not doing a straight round trip, but if you watch it, you can get some good rates out of either Fairbanks or Anchorage. Plus the money you save not going to Disney you can put into the airfare :)
We are like you in that we DID Disney several times over the years. I agree that they messed it up and as a result, we will be visiting other places as well. We do have a trip scheduled where we leave on the 28th and I can honestly say this is the first time ever, I have NOT been excited AT ALL. Plus the fact I'm currently viewing it as our last trip, which makes me sad too. Oh well, the plus side, we will get to explore other places, and perhaps Disney will fix the mess they have made.

No matter what you decide for your cruise itinerary, you will LOVE your Alaska! I absolutely love the whales :)

Hopefully you will be planning a future trip to WDW and be back on Trip Planning and Strategies.

Our friends over on the Cruise board here will offer great advice and support for your Alaska cruise :goodvibes
