Just wondering what others might do. We have private excursions booked on our upcoming Eastern cruise.

In St Thomas -ziplining. The rate was $107 adult and $98 child after group discount. The website indicates that there will be two guides per group and should take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I was thinking that a $10 tip per person would be adequate? So for two of us, $10 total to each guide.

Tortola - all day excursion booked on a private sailboat. Cost will work out to be about $150 per person but includes lunch, drinks and 7 hours with the staff. I was thinking $15-$20 per person for that one.

I hate feeling cheap but don't want to overtip either. Thanks for any input! Curious to see what others do.

Generally - it varies - but generally I tip anywhere from 10-20 percent depending on excursion. If it's just your family - private excursion 20%pp. If you are part of a group I tip 10%. I give the bus driver or driver $5pp in a group, $25 for the day if private. Kinda depends on what I'm doing too etc.

I've zip lined before, I'm not sure you need to tip them anything. Their wages don't depend on tips. However, I'm sure they would appreciate anything you gave them.

We tip 10% of the cost of the excursion per person. We mostly do private excursions, and there are 10 of us in our group.

We've only done group tours, no private excursions, and if it's a guided tour/event we've tipped roughly $20. If it were a private excursion I would rethink that, but since ours were all groups of 30-40 people, I wasn't the only person tipping.
