Another tickets/MDE/Magic Band question

So for Xmas I bought park tickets online for my parents and sister for our upcoming trip. I linked them to their MDE profiles and then was also able to make FP+ reservations for them.

Now I can customize their bands, get them shipped to me and then I need to send them to them, right? And since they are all on the resort reservation their MBs *should* work on the doors and have the park tickets on them already, right?

And since I'm managing the reservations there's no way to have the MBs shipped directly to them, correct? It seems like they'd have to come to me as a group and then I'd have to send them on separately? (We are coming in on 3 different flights from 3 different cities).

Let me know if there's anything I'm missing here, or if I'm overly complicating things. Thanks!

Yes exactly. And no I've asked they will only send the MBs to one address. I just mailed mine to my mother last trip and that's what I'm planning to do this time also.

You didnt specify, are you all on one reservation? My head immediately assumed you are like me! I am managing the reservations for my parents & sister & aunt, but we have 4 rooms, booked under 4 different names.
Our MBs were sent to the address on each reservation.

if you would like to save many of shipping the MB and you are all getting there at the same time then you could wait to give them to them at the airport ( but if you are using DME then you have to all be there, but I am sure disney could look you up if you did not have your magic band after all someone probably but it in three check bags )

I am the lead on our reservations and yes if your all in the same room/vila all the MB's come to the lead! You can just hand them out when you arrive if you prefer as you don't need the MB to check in for DME.

Instead you can just email or fax a copy of the DME paper with the bar code to the other parties and they can use this to check in, cheaper than re-mailing MB's. In fact even without the paperwork the parties without MB can just stop at the desk and have a voucher printed on the spot as long as they are listed on the WDW Reservation and the DME reservation.

You will need to check in however so if the other parties arrive prior to you they can just store their bags with bell services and enjoy the parks, Disney springs etc.

I'm sure DME can look up reservations at the airport without a MB. For example Canadians cant get MB shipped but they can take ME.

If this trip is with your mom as well and she has the last MB she could use that.

It's always been our experience that any adult on the reservation should be able to check in at the resort.

Good idea about MB from prior trips!

IME I have had to be there to check in, my sister and sister in law have both tried to check in prior to my arrival and even though they were listed on the reservation the CM would not do the check in. Not sure why as I wasn't there but in April 15 my sister arrived first at BWI and had to wait for me and just this past December my sister in law tried to check in at AOA - no luck. Neither is the type that would ask for a manager.

There is a good chance that my adult dd will arrive prior to me for our next trip it will be interesting to see if she can check in!

You are right on track. MB will be shipped to only one address, so they'll all come to you, and you can distribute them however it makes sense to you. If you are all coming from different places, it's probably easiest for you to ship them to everyone at home. You COULD wait until you arrive, but you'd have to coordinate that, and it's easier for Magic Express if everyone has tier bands at ME check in. They should have no problem getting into their room/the park/on ME with their bands.

You should be able to check in ahead of time (do online check in, and you don't have to go to the desk at all if everything is all set) and it shouldn't matter who arrives first or last.

I haven't had much luck with online check-in either as it has only worked once out of the last 4 times we went (all since August 2015). Even the CM's couldn't tell me what was "different" that prompted me to have to visit the front desk. We only do room only reservations as we have AP's and don't own DVC, maybe its different with a package or DVC where everything is paid in full prior to check in?

I had the same situation with 2 friends arriving from other cities. I sent them their DME paperwork and gave them their bands when they got there (I arrived a day early).

I used online checkin last month at BWV and was surprised it worked flawlessly. I got the text with the room number while on the bus and went straight to my room.
