Another ticket upgrade ?...

This is what we are thinking of doing...
Buy 4 adult 6 day hoppers from UT (with the discount link) for $1297.81. Use them once, go to guest relations and upgrade to the DVC PAP- total for 4 adult will be $1699.74. We will get credit for the 6 day hoppers of $1427.12 (gate price). We will then have to pay a difference of $272.62. At the end of the day, we will pay a total of $1570.43 instead of $1699.74 for 4 adult DVC PAP. A savings of $129.31.
My concerns are:
1. Will we be able to upgrade to the DVC PAP?
2. Will we get the gate credit or the amount we paid UT?
3. Getting tickets from UT- never have.
4. How long to get the actual tickets from UT.
I have read the ticket sticky, but still want to make sure we won't get the run around.

FYI, this is for our upcoming trip in 22 days- so we will be there between October 1 and December 31.

Thank you!

Your best bet is probably to post this question on the Theme Park board so Cheshire Figment sees it. He's the hands-down ticket expert, as he works in ticket sales at one of the water parks.

1. In a normal upgrade, you can certainly do this. (I'm fairly certain you'll still be able to do it with the discounted DVC passes, but as it's a special promotion there may be special restrictions. That's why I referred you to Cheshire Figment.)

2. You should get the current gate prices. (You'd actually never get the price you paid UCT. What you may mistakenly be offered is the amount UCT paid Disney, which, assuming they're making a profit, is less than what you paid.) If the cast member doing the transaction doesn't offer you the gate prices for your tickets, ask them if they remembered to bridge the ticket to the current price. If they tell you they can't do that any more, it means they don't have the latest policy info. Tickets from a third-party ticket vendor can still be bridged. Either get a manager or move to another location and try for better luck with a different cast member.

3. I've used them before without incident. Many others online have reported the same. They have a good reputation here on DIS.

4. I don't remember the timeframe, but if you don't leave for 22 days, you'll have plenty of time. They'll mail them out right away.

I was just wondering if you could explain what "to bridge the ticket to the current price" means?

Thanks

It means they will value your discounted ticket (or old ticket purchased before a Disney price increase) at the current gate price of the ticket on the day you are doing the transaction.

4. mgroshans, I'm not sure how far you are from Florida, but unless you're in Alaska you're further away than I am. Mail from the East Coast is notoriously long to get to Hawaii, and I got my UCT tickets in a week (I was pleasantly surprised, had been expecting 2 week minimum). So they're pretty fast. At 22 days out, I think you're safe. ;)

If they are not extremely busy, you will get them in a week or less. The first time I bought from them they were here in a week. However, we are going in Nov, but bought our tickets earlier this year when ticket prices increased. UT sells tickets at the old price until their stock runs out, and at that time, they are flooded with orders (cuz people like me know they have a trip coming in the next year and want to save a few $). So that took over a month before our tickets arrived. They do have an option to pick up the tickets in FL (not usually a feasible option if flying in) or I was curious if you could have them mailed directly to the resort? You could call and ask them if they will do that.

So, what was the answer? We're doing the same thing in November... Already have our 6 day PH from UT, and will be upgrading them to DVC PAP. Thanks!

Answers were at the top of the thread.

Thanks everyone for your help and answers:)!
Has anyone heard yet if the bridging has worked?

Yes, there have been several reports that people with lower-valued tickets had them successfully bridged to the discounted DVC PAP yesterday.
