If the resale price doesn't go up by $15 per point for the extemded contracts, it might be better to opt out of the extension ,sell the 2042 contract and then turn around and buy an extended 2057 contract for LESS than you would have paid for the extension.

ooooo the magic gets better and better!!

We had a similar discussion tonight too, but decided our most likely reaction will be to sign back the additional years to Disney.

Two problems with this plan...

First are the transaction costs. Assume you sell your 2042 OKW points for $77. After selling commission, you only get $70 a point. If you then turn around and buy 2057 OKW points for $82/point, you still end up paying $85/point after transaction costs. So even though the price only goes up $5/point (which is about what I expect) you still end up paying $15/point. Might was well just pay Disney.

The other problem is availability. The folk paying for the extension are those that plan to keep their points for a while. People will have to sell due to unexpected events, but there won't be many 2057 contracts on the market for a while.
