I know I can print boarding passes at 12:01 the day of departure. It says on the web site that certain people are not allowed to do this. It states no multi-passanger. Does this mean because there are 5 people under one reservation that I cannot print out boarding passes ahead of time for all of us? I'm a little confused, can someone please help to clear this up for me. SWA is now out of Phila. so this is our first time flying SW. Has anyone printed off boarding passes for more than one person on a reservation? I really hope I'm misunderstanding this!

TIA

Each person needs a separate reservation "number". You need to call SWA and have them separate the reservation so everyone has a unique number.

I just called to split my reservation as Gail had suggested. I was able to do this, but was given an attitude from the woman who helped me do this. She informed me that if I plan to use the web site in the future I should make a seperate reservation for everyone. But, then I take the chance of not getting the same fare for everyone in my party if others book while I'm booking and all the cheaper fares go. I was also told it may be possible that not everyone in my party will be able to print boarding passes the am of the flight. I realize they only have a certain amount of seats they do this with, but I would feel much better if we all were under the same reservation number and either everyone was able to get one or not.

Oh well, guess I can't complain too much for $98 rt.

Maybe this will help someone else in the same situation.

Thanks again Gail, I wouldn't have known to do this without your help.

You are most welcome!!!! :)
If it is any comfort, I booked Dees, Brook's and my flight separately and had no problem getting the 49.00 each way fares.
I have only checked Dee in online, so, I cannot address that one, but, I have read that others have done just fine checking in online. They will do it for all seats. They will not give every one an A pass however. They are divided among online, skycap, counter and gate.
The attitude was not nice, but, I can understand them being frustrated. I bet a lot of people call with that request. Frankly, if she had a bad attitude, I would write SWA about it. They are very friendly and work hard to maintain that reputation. Would not want to see one bad apple spoil the rest of the barrel.

Gail,
Can you explain this a little? Ae you saying that if I get up at midnight to check in for my 7:30 am flight, I wont get all "A" passes? If that is the case, then what is the point of allowing online early check in?

Another question please. This is also our first time to fly SWA. The price was just to good to pass up compared with our local airline. A savings of 200.00 per person, and for 4 people that amts to 800.00 savings. The drawback is that we have to drive for 4 hours to reach the other airport in KC. Because of that we will have to drive up the night before and spend the night. This makes us unable to print boarding passes the night before. If we arrive at the airport by 6.30 a.m. for an 8.30 flight, what would our chances be of getting all 'A' boarding passes? Our reservations are together not separate. Also if my daughters get an A pass and board but say I get a C are people pretty generous about letting family's set together. I would want my 11 year old by me. And my 17 year old has a fear of flying so would like her as close as possible as well.

When we went to WDW in March, I was able to print out my boarding pass but not my DD's. We had separate reservation #s. I think it said something about we are unable to print the boarding pass for this passenger. Please check in at the gate. When we got to the airport, the skycap said certain passengers are randomly selected and cannot print their boarding passes online. I had an A pass and would have saved my DD a seat if she hadn't gotten an A pass at the airport. Of course, she is 19 so it would have been ok to leave her standing in line while I boarded. With a younger child, that might have been a problem.

It is possible that you won't get all A passes. The point is not having to show up at the airport extra early to try and get one.
My best guess is, to keep it fair for all, that they are dividing them up between the places I mentioned so that people have a fair shot at them.
Personally, I like the idea of not having to show up 2 hours ahead of time to check in. In fact, I like it so much that I plan to find a business center in FL to do it on the way home. :)

I would think your chances of getting an A or B pass were pretty good. Working with the scenario you presented, if your daughters boarded before you did, there is NO rule that says they cannot save a seat for you. Once Dee had to have security inspect him further and I boarded and saved him a seat, no problem. People are pretty friendly and the flight attendants are really helpful in trying to get people to switch to accomodate people. BUT, they cannot make them move.
I would check with the hotel where you are staying. They just might be able to help you out. But, just in case that is possible, I would get those reservations separated.

If that happens again, realize that you can cancel your boarding pass and hope for the best at the airport.

One more question about the boarding passes. What would happen if one of our party got put in a different grop than the rest? Would we be able to all board in the lower group, or would we have to all join the higher group? For example, if DW and DD (7) were in the A group and I was in the B group, could we all board as part of the A group? Or even worse, what if Dd was in B and DW and I were in A.

If your DW and DD were in the A group and you were in the B group, then they could go to the B group or board and save you a seat. If daughter was alone in the B group, you or your DW could give her one of the A passes and board with the A group and save a seat for the one with the B group. You can always drop down a letter but, never up.

Gail The business center in the Dolphin is open 24/7. About $1 for the first minute, less for each additional minute and about $1 /page to print. I think it was about $2.5 to print one boarding pass and to find out my wife couldn't get an online pass.

If you want a cup of coffee Tubbis is also open 24/7. Pretty sure the bar in the lobby is also open.

There is a limited number of boarding passes that are available online. A random number of requests are thrown out for security plus some profiling system also kicks requests out.

Hi Lewis,
Thanks for the info. That is something to keep in mind. Also, thanks for the tip about the coffee and bar. The coffee interests me, but, I think I would pass on the bar, I have to drive back to OKW.

Just returned from a DL trip via SW. Got up at 3:30 AM and printed A passes off for 3 out of 4 people traveling. The 4th could not be done online as it was an older Rapid Rewards paper voucher. (1 of the 3 was a newer Rapids Rewards that can be booked online. The paper ticket got an A pass at ALB 2 hours before the flight.)

Out at DL, we were able to print the 3 boarding passes off in the Business Office of the Grand Californian. We did this at about 9 AM for a 2:05 flight and all got A passes again. (The paper ticket also got an A boarding pass at SNA 2 hours before the flight) The office did not charge us for this.

Originally 2 of these 4 tickets were on the same confirmation number. I called a couple of months ago and a very nice lady split them for me. I'd let SW know you got an attitude about this.
