Another substitution/my kid won't eat... question

We'll be on the DxDP and I've been reading menus as I make our ADRs. The problem we're having (which seems to be common) is that my DD likely won't go for most of the options available on the kids menu. She will, however, dive into a bowl of plain pasta with the glee of a pig in slop.

Since plain pasta is the cheapest possible item to make in the entire world, do you think there's a chance that she'll be able to substitute for it at any of the restaurants that serve pasta as part of the adult menu?

I know I won't have the definitive answer until we're there and I can ask for myself, but I'd appreciate some reassurance that there may be a chance that they'll do it for us.

Thanks!

Can't help you with your question but have you looked at the signature meals for kids. They have a really nice choice other then the typical pizza and chicken nuggets. My children really liked the signature restaurants because of all the different choices they had compare to the regular restaurants. Also, alot of restaurants do serve pasta for children with marinara sauce.

I really don't see why they couldn't accommodate you in your situation. At TS, they substituted a few times the app for my daughters last month where they gave them fruits instead of the typical carrot and celery or soup.

A lot of the restaurants able to serve a simple grilled cheese or mac & cheese, even when it's not on the menu. I am not aware that there is a list of which ones are able to do so, but picky kids are nothing new to Disney and they are pretty good at accommodating this. Hopefully some more folk will come on here and post from experience for you :goodvibes

If the kids menu at the restaurant shows pasta with any kind of sauce then they should be able to serve plain pasta or pasta with butter or some other simple alternative. Retaurants really are great about leaving off sauces or making simple changes to menu items to appeal to guests.

If the restaurant doesn't carry pasta then I wouldn't count on it. They have to have the item in the kitchen in order to prepare it. Look over the menus.

My kids were not meat eaters for a few years and they always were able to get plain pasta at TS restaurants that had a pasta dish on the menu. That is really the easiest thing because they have it already ready to serve. Asking for something like grilled cheese from a restaurant that doesn't stock bread for any entree is not nearly as easy. We did have to choose carefully among park quick service places and often just used their credits for breakfast at the resort and paid oop for what they would eat or used a snack credit for things like bread sticks with marinara.

Another confirmation that you can get plain pasta (for kids or adults) if they have pasta on the menu somewhere. The only caveat is that if there isn't pasta on the kids menu, it might be a shape other than the standard elbow macaroni.

Tutto Italia was more than willing to make a plain pasta dish for my niece. Just ask!

I have a kid like yours... She has eaten plain pasta with butter at so many WDW restaurants I have lost count! Even O'Hana brought my kid plain pasta once and pasta is not even on their menu. The chef came out and said she could not have gotten enough to eat and what was her favorite food.... very nice : )

I have never had an issue...even the Polynesian Luau waiter offered me a simpler child friendly fare for my dd9 (was 7 at the time) whom he noticed was not eating heartily.:)

I would not hesitate asking for plain cooked pasta at any table service restaurant. Especially as that is what your child eats the best.

She may end up with the Mickey shaped pasta!!!:yay:
