ANOTHER stroller question...BIG kid question

We were thinking of the maclaren twin techno-so glad we tried it...my 2 yo DS was smushed in it-and he is the size of a 4 yo...so needless to say, I have not found a stroller I like yet for the two of them...we may do 2 separates...I can't find one that fits my DS! Who is 39.5" and about 39 lbs...and an infant who is just 6 weeks!

I did not see your post before I replied to the thread. My daughter is a bit heavier and taller than your son and she loves the Techno. If your son is "smushed" in the Techno, I would suggest the Zooper, E3 (with extra double seat) or a standard double jogging stroller (although jogging strollers are a pain to fold down).

You can always have your single stroller and rent at the parks if you need an extra.

When my son was 3 months old we did Disneyland and I kept him in a carrier about 85% of the time which worked out great. We just traded time in the single stroller between the kids. Good luck and I hope you find the right stroller for your family.

We plan to just rent a stroller for my very tall dd5, since she rarely uses a stroller at home. I just bought a Maclaren Techno for dd who will be 8 months when we go to WDW and used it for the first time today--I love it!! It is so much nicer than the umbrella stroller (Chicco) we had for older dd.

Mac Volos - Made of a meshlike, water resistant material (breathable).

Mac Triumph - Made of actual fabric - it dries very quickly.

As mentioned, all new Macs (from past few years) go to 55lbs. Many online baby vendors have wrong weight classifications of 40lbs, but this incorrect. The new one Triumph actually goes to 65lbs. We love our Mac Triumph and also have a Peg Perego Pliko P3 as well. Only high end strollers for us over here as we frequent WDW a lot (and I have Osteoporosis at a very young age - so must steer like butter for me) and cheap umbrella strollers are not only very uncomfortable (don't get my Chiropractor started on these things), but we can't stand them. I have been banged into so many times by parents attempting to push kids in $10.00 Walmart umbrella strollers with kids that are like 20-30lbs over the limit. Despite the fact that your child may fit into it ok, the weight limits are there for a reason (usually it's for the steering factor of the stroller) and so fighting to push a stroller in this manner in the sweltering heat of July, is not a good thing - especially for those of us continually held up by these strollers. Not trying to offend anyone, but I see people constantly recommend cheap umbrella strollers on here for larger or older kids, and we really do see them many times as being a safety menace in the parks.

Good luck stroller shopping - I am a stroller junkie! Tiger :)

We looked at the Sit and Stand strollers, but none of them will accomodate her weight. Right now she is probably 55 lbs. or so, and we don't go back to WDW until end of Sept./first of Oct.

We brought the Baby Trend Sit and Stand. I have three DDs (2, 5, 6) and the stroller worked great for us. My DD2 is about 35 pounds, DD5 is 45 pounds, and DD6 is 50+ pounds. Often times we had all three girls (130+ pounds!) on there at once. It was heavy, but held up very well.

I love the fact that my older DDs can just hop on and off, there was plenty of storage space underneath and there is a parent tray. I think it's great. Here is the one we have, although there are lots of newer versions out there.

Thanks for the recommendation!
I thought the mac would be the answer to my prayers but when he got in it, he looked uncomfortable-his upper body is wide I guess! We have the chicco c5 and that is even pushing it! I appreciate your recommendations! I was looking at some Sit and Stands and the Joovy Big Caboose...that way he can sit or stand up, though he is already 40" and that's the cut off for most sit and stands!

I am constantly eyeing up people's strollers- I am obsessed!

Did you try your 4 yo in a single Techno, or only the double? If you do decide on 2 seperate strollers, try the single, I am pretty sure it is wider than the seat on the double Techno. My 4 yo is taller than yours, and rides in either a Volo or a Techno (depends if it is he and I, or if dh is with us), but he is a beanpole and only weighs 31 lbs, so that may make a difference too. Good luck with the stroller hunt!

2002DisneyBride - My son (3 weeks younger than your 2 year old son) and his almost 5 year old sister sit comfortably in the Techno, not as roomy as a jogging stroller, but it serves it's purpose to provide relief for their tired legs. My kids weigh 35 lbs. and 42 lbs. respectively and are both well over 40 inches so they are not petite children. My kids only sit in the stroller for short times or when they are exhausted, so I have always looked for products of quality and convenience - fully reclining seats, leg extenders, UV sun shade, one hand fold-down, and no frontal tray. (My kids like to "hop in and out" of the stroller, so we like the Maclaren because there are no trays (like Combi and Perego). For me, the benefit of having those conveniences far out weighs the fact that the stroller may be a bit snug. I think if they ever complained, I would tell them I would be happy to sit in the stroller if they wanted to push. :bitelip:

Parents - Just remember that these are chldren

I was just researching Maclaren's actually.

But what is the difference between the Volo and Triumph? They seem to be the two models that are most like an umbrella stroller, and from what I see, the triumph is a step up from the volo. Differences?

Basically:

Volo: 8.6 lbs; 1 seat position

Triumph: 11 lbs.; multiple seat positions

Here is the Maclaren Buggy Comparison Chart:

Hope this helps!

We have many strollers. I have tried them all...I have 4 that I use for different situations. The Sit and Stand is great for everyday trips to the mall, walks, etc. I have a DouGlider tandem too. It is nice but really heavy. Also, My DD2 will pull DD4 hair from the back seat. (DD4 is too big for the back) Which brings me to the Chicco Citta. First, lets talk $$. This stroller is very inexpensive. It also has HUGE seats. My DD4 calls it the "comfy" stroller. It is not that heavy (for a double) it folds easy and pretty flat. I like that it still rolls when folded. It reclines, has seperate adjustable sunshades for each child, it is easy to push, has 2 large baskets under each seat, has the harness straps too. I like that my kids will take naps in the stroller. Last year it worked out great. It doesn't have cup holders but, most drinks are sold in bottles so we just toss them in the baskets under the seats. Oh, one more thing. The Chicco has 3 handles. It makes it easy to hang a diaper bag or backpack.

Some things to think about...I wouldn't take any side-by-side stroller too far into shops in the parks. Too crowded. My DH would either wait outside with the kids or go just far enough to find an out of the way spot and wait. I also take a small umbrella cheapo to DDT. My DD4 will walk and DD2 sits in the stroller. This is perfect for our shopping day/night. I always keep both strollers in our car or room. You never know when you will need it.

The Chicco also comes in a single. I hope this helps. Good luck picking out a stroller:)
