I had a sit and stand but on our last trip the airline broke it. So now I have to get a new one. I'm debating between the Combi double or 2 umbrella strollers. (DS is 5 and DD is 3). I remember how hard it was to navigate the sit and stand through the crowds last year. I'm worried that the side by side combi will be even more difficult to push in the crowds due to the width of it. What are your experiences with a side by side stroller?

I just went from a tandem double to a Combi side by side and I LOVE the Combi! I haven't taken it to WDW yet, at at our mall it fits through doorways and aisles in stores. I think it is easier to push and maneuver than the other one was. My kids are 3.5 and almost 6, so I really needed something lightweight and it is great. It also folds really easily and should not be difficult on the buses. I really like that they both have their own sunshades and each seat reclines. Plus there are 2 baskets, not huge, but they will be utilized! Can you tell I am really happy with this stroller?! Good luck!

I would just take what ever you have for the 3 yr old and plan on the 5 yr old walking. My kids always walked from 4 on up and we put in very long days at the parks. If you absolutely had to you could rent a day or 2 and save the money of buying a double for very little use.

I prefer the double over the 2 singles. But, if you have plans of splitting the kids up, I'd take the 2 singles. We have the Maclaren Rally Twin. it's a great stroller. I prefer it over the combi double. It just seemed more sturdy to me. Both are great strollers, though.

We also had our kids walk from 4/5 up except for one trip where we actually took two doubles (ages 6,4,2 and 7 months) When I think of what we used to carry to the parks  Oh, I am back from my side trip, I think the two strollers are easier if you are absolutely sure you need two. Kids can walk a lot farther than they let on when they want to see the next ride/character/ whatever. And at the end of the day they were exhausted, so you had the line 'just walk back and you can lay down all night long' Also, like suggested above, you aren't really going to need a double for much else. We went with a cheap stroller that had a canopy and basket for the younger ones when they were 5/3. We did have to rent a stroller for one of the older ones once when he got a stomach virus in the middle of the trip. Still that cost is so much smaller than a bigger stroller.
I think the side by side strollers are much harder to navigate through the people, the front/back are easy because they are just one person width so you just go wherever you want, but the double width made for some frustrating walking for us.
Our last trip we were stroller free for the first time ever! We were in shock and were at a loss for where to put our stuff! We actually took one of our old cheap strollers to the MK one day just to put our jackets/ pants in and parked it and came back to it when we needed to get them in the evening. What we won't do to save the locker fee:rotfl:

we have been to disney twice.

when our twins were just under 3 we took two singles and a set of connectors. when we were together dh and I each pushed one. then when each of us wanted a chance to ride a big-kid ride we connected the strollers and took turns.

when my boys were 5 they walked. they did over 10 miles at epcot one day. if they told me they were tired I suggested we return to the hotel for a nap and they suddenly got re-energized.
