At this rate we'll be in school until the end of June!

I know what you mean. The kids around here have been off since last Wednesday!

another snow day here too....we have now gone over our allotted 5 snow days so it looks like they'll be going extra days in June.

Ugh! Our 5th one here. This is really getting old. If I did the math right, Im guessing we will be in school until June 27th...provided we have no more snow days.

We're out again too. But at least we don't have any to make-up. Our school system banks 10 days worth of time in its regular school days.

Now, to keep us all from killing each other ;)

I think in my half awake state I heard that Boston schools are going to be in until June 30th. Thats horrible for them. They had that whole week after the blizzard off so they have to make it up some how. My kids have only had one full snow day so they will pretty much be out on time.

Our schools were determined not to go over the alloted days so now we have a 2 hr delay opening. School starts at 11:00 and the kids go to lunch soon after.

It's our first. The brilliant powers that be don't build any snow days into our calendar. We go four days longer than required by law. Usually they finish up the week and then don't make us start a new week at the end of June. So we will get out on a Thursday instead of Wed.

Even I got snow today.:hyper: Well, just flurries, but still.:teeth: No snow day yet, but if it keeps up, I might just get a snow day today too.:hyper:

We haven't had a snow day yet this year! We've had plenty of 2-hour delays and early dismissals but not a single snow day!

Yesterday the kids were dismissed at 10:30!!! And it counted as a day of school. Now tell me, how much learning really went on in those 12-minute classes that my DS12 attended? But these same administrators will be making both students and teachers crazy over material in standardized tests that they didn't get the time to teach or learn!

It's too bad that districts can't allow so many "freebie snow days" per year: Days that don't have to be made up. Children have such a hard time concentrating in Early June, never mind trying to teach in late June.

Up here in the Great White North of Ontario, we have yet to have a snow day this school year! Geesh!!!!!!

here in Delaware this is the 3rd snow day.

Our school allots 5 day for school.

I don't think it matters. We have freebie snow days, but they're just tacked onto the end of the year. If we don't use any we get out 3 days earlier....

Although we won't be in school until the end of June, we've now exceeded our allowed hours. It appears we will be making up 5.5 hours at the end of the year. Thankfully, however, our kids get out, or were supposed to, the Friday before Memorial Day. Guess they will be there on Tuesday, May 31 OR perhaps we'll skip some of the 1/2 days scheduled over the last quarter! That would be cool. Kids + school after Memorial Day = 0 learning, just marking time! :teeth:

Boston is already going through June 30th. Another snow day and they'll be in school in July.

I was listenening to the weather this morning and the person was saying that Boston schools are considering cutting out spring break and having kids go to school on Saturday. Of course, my first thought was, "Wow! that's going to mess up some disney vacations!" :worried: I hope everything works out well for those of you getting hit by this storm. :)

Just a two hour delay for us. However, my administrator, in his infinite wisdom :sad2: has decided that all the paraprofessionals need to make up all the two hour delays. That is another full work day for us! Needless to say I am angry about that, so I may just be "sick" on the makeup day.

i have already talked to the union president about this, and she is just afraid of making waves, so its up to me. Personally I don't care. I should not have to work an extra DAY of work when other paraprofessionals in our district (all other 18 schools ) don't have to. And the teachers do not have to make up the hours either.

yup- southern VT here, we have 5 built in- but we wont use them up. We've had to use 2, but it wasnt snow- it was ice. The dirt roads were just sheets of ice, so they called it off.

Then again- they have today off due to town meeting anyway...regardless of snow
