Accck!!! I hope not! We are already in school till the 22nd of June as it is! How late are other N E schools going to this year?

Our last day is scheduled for June 22nd. We have only had 1 snow day so far.

We have this Tuesday off for primary day. Thank goodness for perfect timing!

I can't imagine getting out June 22. Of course, you probably can't imagine staring Aug. 7 either!

We get out in May. We don't start working on the end of the year snow days, however, until we've used up the others.
We lost our President's Day Monday holiday for the first snow day. We are certain to have a snow day tomorrow, and we'll lose one of the days of a four-day weekend at the end of the first quarter in March. Then it's the other March day.

I think losing holidays like that is a much better idea than going later into the summer. I wish they would so that in my area. It makes more sense.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be happy to give up our February school vacation to make up the snow days. My kids had 2 weeks off this year for Christmas and now that they're just getting back into their routine, they are going to have another week off. The district that I teach in is up to June 22nd right now and I think my children are at June 18th, but with at least 2 more months of cold weather, who knows.

Tuesday is already a half day for us. The teachers have it as a curriculum day. Hope we don't lose yet another day. It is getting tougher and tougher to plan early summer vacations. Have to ask those of you that already have no Feb. vacations....how do you like it? I've been a big supporter of losing this vacation week and getting out sooner in June. But, you would think that I was being unpatriotic just by suggesting it around here. I mean, the kids have just had almost 2 weeks off in late Dec, then a week in April. Ah well. Probably never happen here in central ma.

We have never had that week off in February so I am used to this schedule. Our last day is June 10. We start the end os August. Tomorrow is a professional day so no school. By the sounds of the forecast, it would have been a snow day. I just don't want to lose any of the week in April.

I hope its not a snow day. I havent heard an officialy date yet, but with 1 snow day, 1 cold day, and 1 truck rollover day, Im sure we will be going pretty late as it is.
But I would prefer to be going later than to start earlier. Ive heard rumors we are looking into starting before Labor Day and I wont like that 1 bit. :(

I don't understand why other states don't "build in" calamity days. In Ohio we have 5 snow days we don't have to make up. If we don't use them, we just go extra days. If we use more we have to make them up. We haven't had one so far this year  and I am hoping we have one tomorrow, but our storm has gone from winter storm watch to winter weather advisory--if it stalls any more the ice might hit when we are already in session! (It is supposed to change from snow to freezing rain/sleet tomorrow).
My niece/nephew live in NC and go to year-round school and tomorrow is their first day back; I don't know if they got the ice or not. I know they make up days by going a shortened day on SATURDAY.

Sounds like these snow days really muck you guys up & the system:(

Must be so annoying.

We don't have that problem here & are not ever likely too, tho I must say I'm sure the kids would find it pretty neat.;)

WE have had 1 snow day, 1 cold day and 1 funeral day....We get out June 23 now.................

We have just had one Cold Day, The last day is June 18. The HS already has Tuesday off this week, it's mid term make up day.

Must be Ohio and Vermont are the only two that actually plan ahead! Even when I was in school here, we ALWAYS had 5 snow days built in, never do I remember going over..Schools here have used 2 snow days, they've got 3 left. If they do go over, we will go for 1/2 days later in june

One thing though, we didnt close school because it was cold a few weeks ago. The Super made the announcement that school would be open, however if your child had to wait for a bus without being inside, and could not travel to school in a vehicle, your child would be excused.

I think in most school districts here in MN we have 8-10 snow days already built in. If we don't use them, we just go to the end anyway...no getting out early.
