I want to make sure I understand before I bid. The home away from home gives you a seven night stay, plus a 100.00 certificate for your next vacation, right? Okay, but you have to book both buy Aug. 2007? If this is true then if I can't take two weeks then the ready set go would be a better deal? Anyone done these auctions before.?

With home and away, you win one seven night stay (that must be booked through getawayweeks.com prior to end of August). You don't have to stay before August, just have the week booked. I believe all travel must take place by Mar 2008.

The $100 travel certificate must be used FOR ANY OTHER AUCTION prior to the end of August. Again , the holiday does not have to take place by the end of August.

The problem with home and away is that you win the auction and then have to wait for them to e-mail you your getaway week number. You then call getaway weeks and book your holiday. Getting the getaway week vacation number can take a few days. With the vacation inventory changing all the time on the getaway weeks web site, you could see what you want then by the time you get the code, the vacation inventory could be gone. Remember with home and away you have to pay $195 in fees plus $20 admin fee on top of auction cost.

With ready set go, you can place a hold on the week you want and then you have 24 hours to win a ready set go auction. This is better if you want a particular property. Remember though fees are higher: $295 plus $20 admin fee.

Hope this helps.

thanks:thumbsup2
I guess my best bet would be ready set go, that is what I used the last two years, I hate it went up a 100.00.::sad1:

Have you considered renting a condo or vacation home from an owner? It seems that with all the fees, you might actually save a bit! I've been trying to figure out Skyauction, but I've had such good luck renting from owners and knowing for sure where and when I'll be staying that I think I'll stick to that route myself.

I also have been looking at skyauction, still can't get the hang of it though I am looking for 7 days at disney a 2 bedroom at least but not still sure of the week yet..So I guess I just have to wait. I just don't get the hang of it.

I have used skyauction for the past 3 years and never had any problem and the resorts you get to pick from their inventory so its not like they just put you in a resort you know nothing about, you can research the resort online or ask on here before you bid on it, we have stayed at several 5 star resorts through sky auction, I just hate the ready set go auction that I normally bid on has went up 100.00 this year.

As for renting from owners, I don't know any owners to rent from, and now days it is hard to trust someone you don't know. I seen on the dvc fourm where people there had lost up to 800.00 trying to rent points from owners, they were just flat out scamed, they didn't own a dvc, at least with skyauction I know it is a very up and up company.
