Another Shoe Question - Sport Sandals?

Hi

I'm hoping someone has tried these sport sandals and can give an opinion on them. Or any other specific shoes you would recommend.

Normally, I wear my sneakers at Disney World.

A few years ago I also started to wear crocs sometimes at the park. I know they are pretty ugly, but they are comfortable. Being that they are kind of clunky I trip over my feet in them so am still looking for something else to wear.

I tried Keen's but found them uncomfortable.

I bought a cute pair of Clarks sandals last year from the "un" line so they are lightweight and very comfortable, but I don't think they are waterproof and since it seems to rain a bit each day we're in Disney I'm not sure how these sandals will do.

I bought a pair of Teva flip flops after reading great things about them, but don't normally like wearing the flip flops with the thing in between the toes. I bought them a few days ago and am trying to get used to them but I don't know if I can use them for running around a park all day. Here is a picture of the style on Zappos. So I found a pair of sport sandals by Merrell that are sort of cute, say they are waterproof, and I'm hoping comfortable. I ordered them a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting their delivery. I'm attaching a link to their picture on Zappos.

What do you think of the Merrells? Any other shoe recommendations?

Merrells are supposed to be nice. I haven't had a pair, though.

I have a pair of Ecco sport sandals. I haven't had them for long, but I wore them a few days in the parks (they were almost brand new !) and they were pretty comfortable. I haven't tested them in wet conditions yet.

Merrells are an EXCELLENT shoe for women (and I sell shoes for a living). I read up on the pair you purchased and they have Q-form in them which is something all women's shoes should have (I won't bore you with the technical details as to why)! I won't wear anything BUT Merrell, my feet give me too many problems but most of all, I used to have Plantar Fasciitis and it has now corrected itself, no more pain.

IMO you made the absolute right decision.

Hi everyone

After a little mix up with UPS who told me the driver said my address didn't exist. And me explaining that yes it does in fact exist and I live there, my shoes were finally delivered.

I read about the Q-Form on the little pamplhet that came with the shoes so thank you for the heads up on that.

I tried them on and they seem very comfortable. Of course this was just walking around my house, but even right out of the box they felt good on my feet.

Now I just have to wait until we go to Disney in October.

I have been researching the same thing for our upcoming trip in September. I was at Rack Room Shoes and found a pair of Teva Terrins on sale. They look like all the ones online. I have been wearing them for a couple of days and wow! They are great! They feel great! Like walking on air! I am definitely wearing these the majority of the time at the parks. I am not a big fan of Crocs, I wear a size 10 foot and when you put a hot pink clog on my foot, it's not a good look! Hope this helps!

I've been looking for somesort of super comfy sandle/shoe to wear to the parks that can get wet....I'm usually a huge sneaker person. I saw a thread posted a long time ago about Merrell's being the best shoe for WDW so I went to Von Maur and bought my first pair 1 day before our trip. I didn't have time to break them in before our trip but it didn't matter - they are absolutely the best shoes I've ever paid money for. I couldn't even tell I had shoes on. Plus, they dried out quickly which was another bonus. I also liked the fact they had lots of velcro buckles which was great for me since I have a very narrow heel - they stayed on great, no slipping off the back of my heels.

DH and I went shoe shopping today - we have to try them on so no on-line shopping for us. I got Teva Deacons at Sports Authority and DH got Merrell Saugatucks at Academy Sports. Both styles are the closed toe type that look like a cross between a running shoe and a sandal. I've been wearing mine for a couple of hours now and I think they're going to be great - like wearing bedroom slippers. DH is probably going to have a little more trouble getting used to his - he's not used to sandals or wearing shoes without socks. But I think they're going to be great for the parks in September.

Total bummer. I ordered the Teva Dozer 2 days ago and got them today....I don't like them. The tongue was digging into the front of my ankle. I also thought they'd be more comfortable for the price. I have to return them. Luckily the webstore I bought them through does free shipping both ways. phew!
I'm actually going to try a pair of sport Crocs, the Double X TG. I'll let you know how that feels when I get them.

First...my sister's name is Noreen and I just love the name!!

Regular crocs are great but I agree...a bit clunky. However, I just love the croc flip flops.

I think the footwear issue is so very individual for what works for you. My DH always gets blisters in WDW no matter what footwear he tries. Always. So I guess what I'm saying here is that the footwear unfortunately is trial and error.

I'll keep my croc flip flops!!

Growing up I hated my name since it was a little different. Any my sister's name is Jennifer so there were always tons of Jennifer's around.

Now that I'm an adult I love my name since it's a little different but not too out there.

I have both Merrill sports sandals and hiking shoes and they are awesome. They offer great support and are very comfortable. My hiking shoes have Gore-tex, so they are waterproof and breathable.

If you have wide feet, IMO Keens are the way to go. DH and DD both have wide feet, and Keens are the only shoes that they can wear comfortably. They both have Keen sport sandals that are waterproof, and regular casual shoes, and find them extremely comfortable. I myself can't wear them because they are too wide for my comfort, but if you have wide feet, Keens are hard to beat.

I agree with the Merrel's, but also love Chaco's. Their Z/1 is a riverguide/hiking sandal, so they have great support, traction, and handle rain really well. The strap around the foot (not behind the ankle) is continuous so you can get it to fit your foot exactly. Friends (male and female) wore them on our last Disney trip and I ordered mine a month ago to make sure I'd be comfortable in them for our trip this month. They are wonderful. I've walked miles at time in them and they are fabulous.

I agree 100% on the Chaco's... I had terrible Plantar Fascitis problems, and since I've switched to decent shoes and sandals, mostly wearing Chacos, it's been solved. They are expensive - but I wore a pair every time it was over 50 degrees for about 3 years and literally wore the soles out (the footbed was still fine! The sole had thinned by almost a half inch). I now have two pair I rotate between and walk about 3 miles in them daily, plus out and about. They are ALL I will wear @ Disney, since they never chafe, dry quickly, never smell and my feet never tire of them. Huge thumbs up for Chacos!

I recently bought a pair of Merrell Siren Sport sandals to wear when I go to Disney in September. I've only worn them around the house a few times, but they are super comfy. I think they're going to be a great anternative to sneakers at the park.

I plan on bringing both my Merrills and my Chacos on our 10 day trip next week. I had originally thought to wear my hiking boots since they're supportive, breathable, and waterproof, but I'll use the Chacos as my walking sandals and the Merrills as my waterpark shoes.

I have the Chacos ZX/2; they are pretty amazing.
