...not knowing how to balance your drink and your baby...but at least the drink was safe.

**Edited because the linked pages included profanity.

Folks, all I can say is that when my son was six weeks old, I slipped and fell down a flight of stairs, while carrying him in my arms. However, I chose to hang on to my child, not try to break my fall. I was bruised up, but the baby was fine.

Slipping and falling can happen to anyone. But when you have a baby in one hand and a drink in the other - and the baby falls, and you hang on to the drink - that's beyond "not being perfect", that's a reckless disregard for your baby's safety.

All I can say is I'm glad I don't have paparazzi following me around taking pictures of me every time I stumble or make a parenting mistake.

I know I didn't have cameras following me around, but I assure you, I made darned sure that I was supporting my childs head while carrying him through a crowd!

Most parents want to protect the child from bumping others and to avoid snapping their neck when you have to walk fast, or was I just overprotective?

Ok- in her defense, sometimes the baby wiggles and it is not very easy to keep them on your hip BUT that is why your other hand SHOULD NOT HAVE A DRINK IN IT so you can use both arms!!

Poor Britney- it must suck to have cameras following your every step. Put him in a stroller and keep the cover on it or something! Is she trying to be Angelina Jolie?

Well I've almost dropped my children a couple of times. They can get wiggly no matter how tight you're holding them. Like the previous poster said, it's a good thing I don't have cameras on me 24/7.

Oh good grief. I would love to follow some DISers around with a camera to see how perfect they are in their parenting skills.

I so agree! ::yes:: :thumbsup2 I'd love to throw the "perfects" under a microscope.

Did it not say that she "slipped"? I am always amazed by how many perfect mothers there are.

Yay, I win $5. I made a bet with my sister that within 5 minutes of posting this I would get:

1)at least one response that it isn't Britney's fault because the paparazzi are stalking her

2)at least one response suggesting that no one is perfect (with our without sarcastic smiley)

3)at least one response suggesting that all parents would look similarly bad if photographed at the wrong time.

Sorry, but my sympathy for Britney has long since vanished. Plenty of celebrities manage to raise children without one safety crisis after another. If she doesn't want the paparazzi to photograph her with her kid, leave the kid at home. That baby isn't asking to please go outside for a stroll.

My mom who was a very good mother she was carrying my baby brother in an infant carrier one time and slipped on an icy step and dropped the carrier w/baby in it. Thankfully he was okay but things like this do happen. I'm not sure that Brittney is doing more careless things or if it seems that way because the paparazzi is on her butt constantly. I'm more concerned with that freak Michael Jackson who dangled his baby out of a window having children than I am Brittney.

When my DD was 5months old I watched her roll off my big 4 poster bed onto the uncarpeted floor. Yep. Watched her. DH was sick in the living room and I was packing for a trip to WDW. I was slightly stressed and completely zoning thinking only of what I still had to get done that day. :rolleyes1  :guilty:

Took DD to the ER and she was fine -- Thank You, Lord!

Accidents do happen and, like others said, I'm glad there were no cameras following me around.

But, Brit, you may want to consider a shorter pant leg or smaller heels in the future. ;)

Both my children have chipped front teeth from falling.

My youngest sustained second degree burns on her toes (no scars--how wonderful baby skin is to heal!).

My youngest has also bopped her head more times than I can count.

All--accidents!

As far as supporting heads--didn't they say in the car seat thread that he was 8 months old. He's old enough to support his own head. How many walk around with 8 month olds and cup their heads like a newborn?

She so much and looks at that baby funny a picture will be posted on the internet. Sometimes people just have too much time on their hands.

---and your link contains profanity.

Why are details important?

It is Britney afterall. ;)

(just like the high chair incident--everyone is quick to forget that was an accident involving the nanny. )

And who are any of us to judge her or anyone else?

I think this board needs a Mommy Police smiley.

OMG!!!! I just realized I'm not a perfect father. :sad1: There was one time when I slipped on our hardwood floor while carrying ds. As I lost my balance, I dropped him. :guilty:
