Another restroom question! This is probably a really weird one....

Which restrooms are cleanest and have the most sinks & counter space? LOL Told you it was weird. Here's why...

I'm currently doing Invisalign and it's a real pain because you need to brush/floss/mouthwash after you eat, before you put the aligners back into your mouth. It's been a very interesting (and gross!) 8 months, brushing my teeth in all sorts of public restrooms. Needless to say, I get a lot of strange looks. Anyways, I prefer restrooms with a bunch of sinks so I can just take a little corner and won't be in the way of anyone. And it's always nice to find a sink that isn't clogged with someone else's hair. It's crazy what you find in sinks when you are staring right into them while spitting out toothpaste. LOL

(Last time I was at California Adventure we ate at Wine Country and I made the mistake of using the adjacent restroom. It was bad because there were only two sinks and there were a LOT of people coming in and out so I was constantly in someone's way. I never want to be responsible for people having to make a line just to wash their hands!)

So if anyone has any suggestions I'd definitely appreciate them. Thanks!

Hungry Bear Restaurant (down the stairs) has a sink at the very back. I found the washrooms to be very clean in the mornings, but as the afternoons wore on, and the crowds thickened, it was hard for the staff to maintain people not flushing, etc., as well, the smell was enough to make me feel ill. :faint:

There is a restroom that I find is hardly used, it's behind the Disney Gallery (used to be the bank). If you enter the park through the tunnel to the right its just to the right after you come through. It seems like a lot of folks don't seem to know about it since its tucked back on the side of the building.

You also might want to check in at the first aid center tucked away behind the corndog cart by the Plaza Inn.... I bet they would let you do your thing in one of there more private spaces. The nurses there are really helpful.

Also check out the Guest Relations/City Hall restrooms.... those are really nice and are seldom used.
Looking at the entrance to City Hall you hang a right and its between city hall and the entrance to the fire station.

There's actually a whole website about the bathrooms at DLR! I'm not sure if it gives details about counter space and number of sinks but you can check it out and see if it gives you any good info.

Also, I second the suggestion by the PP about trying the first aid station (there's one in each park). They are so great there and are able to accommodate the various needs that guests have, not just medical emergencies. They will also give you free advil, etc if you need some.

Thanks, everyone! I'd probably feel bad going to First Aid for this, but it'll be nice to have in the back of my mind. And that website looks great, too.

Like I said, I was just there in May but we only had two meals at the parks so I only had to do the routine twice. I want to eat more this time around! LOL

I go to first aid for aspirin and band aids (for blisters) almost every trip, they are always happy to help, and honestly a best kept secret IMO....
I bet they would be happy to help, after all dental hygene is very important to overall health!:goodvibes

Haha that's a good point! When I'm done with this I'm going to be so used to having super clean teeth that I'm probably going to be wanting to brush my teeth after every meal. LOL

(I am going to have a surplus of these pre-pasted toothbrushes I bought in bulk, after all. I think I really overestimated how many I was going to need!)

I had mine for our May trip and was thinking about what I did when I realized that I only brushed my teeth in the park once (translation - I only ate in the park once during our 3.5 days there). The rest of the time we went back to the room for lunch, took a break, ate dinner and then went back. Unfortunately, snacking just doesn't seem worth it when you think of having to go through the whole routine again.

On a happy note, my hygienist was very impressed at my cleaning earlier this month!

I just got back from six days in the parks...what I actually did was only wear them at night and now that I'm home I'll wear them one extra week. It was much easier to just not wear them and not worry about them and not worry how they'd look in photos, either. I'm sure your ortho would disapprove, but that's what I did anyway. If you're near the Grand Cali Hotel you could pop in there and use their restrooms.

We did sit next to one woman at Test Pilot who popped them out and stuck them in her bra...I have no idea what she did with them after that, but she never washed her hands before popping them out, nor after, and the proceeded to handle her family's food and hand it to them and such. Gross!

Good luck!

It's so true. I was really hoping to lose weight with them because I no longer snack, but that thing they say about eating small meals throughout the day is SO true. I've GAINED weight on Invisalign because I only eat two decent meals a day now. I'm not very happy about that!

EW AND EW AGAIN about that lady. In her BRA?! That's a new one. I try to wash my hands before taking them out, but if I'm too far from a restroom I always at least use a Purel hand wipe before I pop them out of my mouth! And then I use some special minty aligner wipes to clean them off.

I actually specifically changed my trip around because of my aligners! I was going to go the weekend before but I would have only had them in for a few days so I pushed the trip back a week. I wish I could leave them out during the day but I'm nearing the end of my treatment and I don't want to take any chances! Since I'll be at the end of the two weeks I will have a lot more freedom and I'll feel more comfortable leaving them out for a couple hours at a time, but I'll still have to brush a few times each day.

Ok- I don't wear them so please forgive my ignorance
ugh- stupid IPhone!

Ok- So....what I was going to say was couldn't you just get a cup of water or water bottle & head to a stall??

I know, I know...not ideal. But most likely you would need to use the bathroom anyways. And why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

Brush using the sanitary water & spit in the toilet. Floss & use the minty wipes you described. Would that work??

I don't know about anyone else but for me- I prefer not to do these types of things in public. Guess I'm just a little self conscious that way...so I would definately use the privacy of a stall.

And BTW- in the bathrooms at NOS, there's a stall with a sink INSIDE it! I believe it's 1st one on your right.

Oooh a stall with a sink inside would be awesome!

I know plenty of people just rinse with water, but I'm super paranoid about cavities. If you just put your aligners back in and there's food still in your teeth it can just sit there and it has the potential to basically rot. Before I did Invisalign I Googled like crazy and tons of people say they wound up with a bunch of cavities. I've never had one, and I don't want to start now! (Plus I don't have dental insurance so I don't want even more expenses on top of the Invisalign.) I'd much rather just brush like crazy to prevent them now.

I usually do floss inside the stall, because that's actually the most awkward part. You'd think it'd be the most normal part because everyone gets things stuck in their teeth, but standing there with your hands in your mouth isn't attractive at all.

I have made a few bathroom friends. LOL When I get weird stares I'll be like "I'm not creepy obsessed with clean teeth, I'm just doing Invisalign!" and then sometimes I'll get someone who wants to do it and has a bunch of questions. I'm educating the public, one restroom at a time.

I'd be hesitant to use a stall at all for my dental hygiene (cause, eww), and I would be really hesitant to use the stall with a sink in it (as it is probably the handicapped stall, and I take 5+ minutes going through my routine). As far as others watching me floss, oh well, I've done it in front of bunches of people in the past 5 months! Nobody has ever said a word to me about it (and if they've given me odd looks, I've been too busy with my own stuff to notice). I hate going places that only have one sink (so I have to keep moving out of the way for people).

So, Katems, did you have to move your appointments around and such, and what did your ortho say?

Oh good point about it being the handicapped stall. I didn't even think of that. Yeah I won't use that one.

Yeah single sink places are the worst. OH! And automatic faucets and hand blow dryers are my enemy. (Does DL have them? I can't remember!)

DL has auto faucets, yes, but they have paper towels not blow dryers.

Starshine, my ortho said to wear them a full extra two weeks, but I plan to only do it one extra week...they slip on really easily so I'm not too worried. I had them on 1.5 weeks ahead of the trip, and then at night for a week, and now I'll go a week back to normal. I'm on tray 11 of 20. It didn't mess up any appts.

Seems to me there is also a stall with a sink in the restroom behind Big Thunder Barbeque. Not positive that is where I saw it though, but pretty sure.

DLRfan, yes, there is one in the restroom behind the BBQ. :) There are only 3 stalls in that bathroom and 2 sinks but the large stall has a sink inside it. I wouldn't hesitate to use the larger stall with the sink if I needed to take a few extra minutes for my dental needs, it sure would be easy. :) There's also a restroom behind CC that isn't used as much and one back by Innoventions on the way to the train stop by Autopia, not used as much because it's not on the beaten path. :)
