Another repositioning cruise?

Just wondering if someone can tell me if there is another 14 day cruise in the future? I know there is one in the fall but I am sure that is sold out. Is this something they do on a regular basis? Anyone know when they will do another? Just have been reading about it and it sounds like a blast! Thanks!

DCL is already selling for 2006, so it won't be next year. There is some limited availablity on the August repo cruise, but it changes daily and is pretty expensive.

I hope they do the repositioning cruise again. I WILL BE ON IT IF THEY DO!!!!!!!!!! I can't this summer because I am in school.

There are cabins available for the August cruise. If you check back on June 15th, there could be more and also on June 20th. These are the 75 and 60 day payment marks. Many people have cabins reserved, but will not be able to make final payment, so some will open up. Runours are that DCL will be looking at additonal US Ports for future sailings, as popular as the west coast cruise are for this summer, it wouldn't surprise me to see a third ship eventually serve that market year round.

DCL does off some special 10 night cruises from time to time, and if you are really, really, really wanting 14 nights, book either 2 7 nights back to back on the Magic or a 3night/4night/3 night/4 night on the Wonder.

the allure of a repositioning cruise is that it goes through the Panama Canal .. that's why we jumped at the chance to do the Aug repo cruise .. as for DCL doing it again, summer 2007 would be the earliest next chance .. we'll have to wait until this Fall for the 2007 bookings to open up, to see if they're planning on repositioning one of the ships again for the summer months .. as for a 3rd ship, it's already designated for Florida, the supposed eventual someday 4th ship (5-7 years down the road) is designated for CA.

My husband is a carpenter in the Bay Area and has several of his partners working right now on the Cruise Terminal that Disney bought in San Francisco. I have this hunch that there will be a repositioning cruise to bring one of the older ships over to this side and bring the new one to Florida.

DCL bought a terminal in San Fran??? When did this happen? First I have read anything about it..... I am actually surprised they would buy a terminal before even having the ship started. I would think that building the ship would take more time than remodeling/building a terminal....

We are already doing a land/sea in July so won't be making the Aug. repo cruise this summer. Hopefully in 2007. Now, if I rebook on board to get the credits could I switch the ressie to a longer repo cruise and keep the credits should they have one that summer?

It totally makes sense that they would build a terminal in San Fran. When I was on the Wonder in 2002 some CMs were telling us that Disney was planning on building another ship with a strong possibility of an Alaska route.

They won't have a terminal in San Francisco and be running Alaska cruises out of it - its too far - at least 2000 miles to Anchorage (or about 100 hours (4 days) one way at 19 knts)

No disrespect for the poster that said that her hubby is working on a cruise terminal for DCL, but I don't know why DCL would have a terminal in San Francisco --- unless --- they would run SF to Hawaii cruises (one way). Hawaii is an interesting state and San Francisco is an interesting town - there could be a draw there. But there are legal challenges there - unless they build an American Cruise ship, US flagged and staffed with more US citizens than they have now.

SF to Alaska tend to be round trip (no so land tour options before/after) and tend to be 10-14 days in length.

I don't think Disney would want to do 10-14 day cruises on a regular basis......

Hi! They have owned the terminal for quite some time. For those who don't know the Disney family still has a big part in the Napa Valley including a winery about 1 hour north. Right now the terminal is housing some flower shops and stuff like that. Since most of the terminals down is SF are in server disrepair they won't have anything going for a close while. Remember we are building the Bay Bridge. As for Alaska cruises there is already one that goes from SF to Alaska, one that goes from SF to mexico and one that is starting this year from SF to Hawaii. The SF to Alaska as it stands right now is a 7 or 10 dayer and you depart in Alaska and fly home. Hope this clarifies information. I plan on working for the disney terminal when it comes here. Or at least I can dream about it.

When the Magic arrived in LA there were a lot of reporters and the DCL big wigs were there too.

An article ended up running in the Orange County register.

In a nutshell, it'll be 2007 AT THE EARLIEST before we see another DCL ship over here.

DCL is looking at Long Beach/San Pedro; not San Francisco (this is per the Prez of DCL).

They ARE considering summer Alaska cruises, if the ship ends up being built to handle that environment.

not all alaskan cruises go to anchorage. we took a princess to ketchikan, juneau, and skaguay last august, with a stop in vancouver on the way home. it was out of seattle and was a 7 day cruise with two days at sea. truly gorgeous!

Yes, if you book far enough in advance that your room of choice is available on both sailings, you can do that.

Roundtrip cruises out of Seattle or Vancouver do not go to Anchorage .. they stick to the Inside Passage.

Open jaw (one way) cruises from Seattle or Vancouver go to Seward or Whittier, and then you typically take a bus or train to Anchorage, Fairbanks, etc.

People who know a lot more than I do think it likely the Magic will head west again in 2007. So if you're interested, be ready to jump on the two repo cruises as soon as they are announced -- possibly within a few weeks!

And whenever the new ship is built, there will be a single repo cruise when it begins operating, as almost certainly one of the ships will end up on the west coast.

if they are talking about new ports from florida for 2007 what port do you think they will be? I have already said i would kill (well, maybe just eat steak!) for a disney cruise to Bermuda!!! but what other new places do you suppose they could go to from florida???

Bermuda from Florida. That would be a new one. Most, if not all cruises to Bermuda leave from the northeast.

There really aren't other Caribbean islands that are popular stops for cruises. St Thomas, St Martin, San Juan, Cozumel, Ocho Rios, Nassau are the big ones.

One option would be to sail out of San Juan for part of the year. That would add three different potential intenaries.
