Gone With The Wind was released pretty much at the end of the economy crisis. If you want to go with that though; there were less movie theaters in 1939, therefore it was shown less often than Titanic was. Titanic was in the movie theaters a VERY long time; I believe they even extended the theatrical showings.

The 1930's actually brought about a LARGE increase of movies because more people were going to the movies, not only to escape the realities of their life, but also because of how cheap it was (around 5 to 10 cents). Color movies were debuted during the 1930's. Musicals were being produced for the screen as well.


wow u got that dead on. umm yeah the economic problems were fixed but people were recovering. people were scared crapless and the war killed millions and dont forget the flu outbreak on top of that. people despertly needed 2 escape there promlems and went to the movies. fyi im not trying to fight im just trying 2 have constructive conversations lol
