Another question about the towel animals

Do all the resorts do this?? Some mentioned having never seen them so I'm wondering what resorts DON'T do them. We stayed at CBR last time and had them each day (usually set up with some of dd's toys). We are trying to decide which moderate to stay at this year and have it narrowed down to either the CBR again or POFQ. Do they all do the animals??

We didn't take ours (I equated it to stealing towels and never thought to ask) but I did make sure to take pictures of them each day to have for memories. Here are a few...

Thanks!!

It happens at all of the resorts but not all mousekeepers know how to do it. Some people just get lucky. I would also image that tipping the mousekeeper helps since they must have a busy day and this takes extra time.

We have stayed at BWI quite a few times now and have never received a towel animal. (yes, we tip too) At WL last summer we got one one night and on the Disney cruise we got elaborate ones every night with Disney chocolates for eyes.

I guess this proves that there is no rhyme or reason ~ just the whim of the mousekeeper.

The only resort I received the towel creation at was POP. I didn't tip until the last day either, so I know it wasn't due to tipping. I noticed many people on my floor had them in their windows. Mostly baskets and tissue box looking creations so I think they all came from the same mousekeeper.

NJDisneymom- thanks for sharing the pictures. I loved the ones where the stuffed animals and Barbie were propped up. When we were at CBR several years back, they did something similiar for my son. He was just a toddler, but had a big smile on his face and started to giggle when he saw the stuffed animal propped up on the bed waiting for him. I'll never forget that moment and wonder if it is the same mousekeeper?

It is a neat surprise to have the towel animals... I wonder if making those towel animals is related to tipping at all, or that the mousekeepers tend to make them when they are good at them, or want to practice?

Hey I second the thanks for showing the pictures of them! Of all our trips at Disney we have NEVER had towel animals! I think we just must be missing the luck of the draw on that b/c I hear so much about those and yet never have had them! We even tip at least $5 a day! :( lol

I would prefer my room be cleaned in a timely manner. If my room isn't cleaned until after 5 PM because the housekeeper is making little towel sculptures, there's a problem.

I really think it is just a matter of your mousekeeper. I stayed onsite at POLY and POFQ and never got towel animals. I stayed at CBR in Dec 03 and saw them in a few people's windows, but didn't actually get any myself. But I stayed at CBR again in Nov 04 and had them almost everyday! By the end of the trip we had a dog, elephant, swan , duck, and 2 bunny toothbrush holders! They were very cute and I'm hoping we'll get lucky and get them this year at CSR!

We have never received a towel animal, and yes we tip $5 per day. I did ask out mouskeeper one day and she said she didn't know how to make them. She did however rearrange the kids stuffed animals each day in cute positions (this was even before I asked about the towel animals). I don't think they all know how to do it, but in our experience when they know you have small children they try to do something special. BTW this was at the GF. Maybe next trip we'll be lucky enough to get a towel animals, but not counting on it.

This may be exactly why some people don't have towel animals. I'm sure if the mousekeepers have a very busy day ahead of them, they won't spend too much time making animals. They also would need to know how.

On our first stay at the Dolphin, I was very concerned that it wouldn't be Disney-Like enough for my 4yo. However, when we returned the first day, our entire bathroom was filled with fun animals for him to enjoy. She even put shower caps on his stuffed animals. I guess she thought he would appreciate that more than all of the people there for the Chick-Fila conference!

Yes, you do get them often (almost daily) on the Disney cruises, but they happen at turn-down service, not in the AM when they are making up the room. I'm sure there is a little more time for the CM's on the cruiseline to make these in the PM.

does it have anything to do with the time of year you go? we're taking our 1st trip in july and would love to have some for the kids in our room, even though i know it's all luck, i can hope!

We stayed at Poly last month and never got them although we tipped. We've gotten them at POR 2 different trips. Also, at some moderates, they've moved my Pooh in different positions. I think it just depends if your mousekeeper can do them or wants to do them.

I am a mousekeeper in CBR. We have been told by our managers that it is fine if guests take the towel buddies home with them. They fully expect people to. The towel buddies are all part of the magic, to make your stay just a little bit better. Not ways of trying getting better tips.

We have gotten towel animals on all our trips. Stayed at the Poly, POFQ, WL, CS,CB and AKL. It's part of the fun!

It is hit or miss. We have had them in the Poly and WL. We tip the same regardless. The mousekeepers ALWAYS do something cute with the stuffed animals, though! Sometimes they are in the windows looking for us. Sometimes they are on the TV, so when you open the Armoire they are looking at you. Sometimes they are arranged on the beds in cute arrangements.

I don't think that making towel animals or artfully arranging stuffed animals takes away enough time to keep the rooms from being completed in a timely manner. The rooms that are needed for new guests are done 1st... if there are many check outs and check ins on that day for your mousekeeper, that will slow down the cleaning of already occupied rooms. Come to think about it, if a mousekeeper doesn't do the little extras, it could very well be she had lots of check outs and check ins that day.

Stayed at CBR and did not get towel animals but did have my sons stuffed animals arranged neat with one of those card notes saying something to the effect of "we missed you and hope you had a good day".

Got our first towel animal in 03 at Riverside. A bunny toothbrush holder.

Also got one at ASSports in 04.

We find the most towel animals at the All Star Resorts and at Pop Century. We put our stuffed animals in the window, and they folded up our curtains to display them,it was really neat. Then, they started making us these towel creatures.
Once they could see we were into it,they seemed to make them most every day!
Hope you get lots ! :flower1:

I'm just curious. What else would you expect Mousekeeping to say ? Tips are certainly a part of their income. I certainly have no dog in this race and I'm not trying to start anything at all I just don't understand why anyone would think a mousekeeper has the authority to give permission for something such as this. I can certainly respect those who ask a manager. I guess I'm just at a loss as to why some folks just don't tell their children that the towel animals live at Disney.

i didn't get them in the three nights i stayed at POR. but they were there every night of our cruise on the wonder! i'll be at CS in a few months, i'll watch for them. i wonder if they don't leave them for you if you are childless? perhaps i should strew some stuffed animals around my room for effect...
